Only 35 minutes from downtown Minneapolis and less than an hour from the Mall of America, this is the perfect place for a getaway. Located In a darling beach community, the house is directly across the street from the lake with amazing views and a private dock (in the summer). Enjoy the brilliant colors of the sunsets, bonfires and everything lake life has to offer. Beautiful fall colors and plenty of winter fun as well…ice fishing, snow shoeing etc. Bring your snowmobile if you wish. The fishing is amazing any time of year. Our lake home is in the perfect location. It has an “up north” feel without the long drive. Our 1700sf lake home has a fun beach vibe. It’s cozy, but open and airy and loaded with amenities. The home has 3 bedrooms & 3 bathrooms.The master bedroom is on the top floor and has a king size bed and 3/4 bathroom. The sectional sofa is on the main level and there are 2 bedrooms downstairs each with a queen bed. There is also a 3/4 bathroom on the lower level. The home has a smart TV on the main level and two other smaller TV’s with DVD players and tons of movies. Wi-Fi is included and we have a small desk if you need to get some work done. The lower level has a foosball table, full size Pac-Man game and dart board. There are also board games, puzzles, cribbage and cards. Even if it’s raining (or snowing) you won’t be bored!! Our kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to create amazing meals. Pots and pans, crock pot, air fryer, toaster coffee maker, microwave, blender, dishes, utensils and much more. There is not a dishwasher, so you will have to wash dishes the old fashioned way. We also have a gas grill outside on the back deck. If you forget something, the General Store is right up the street or grocery store within 10 minutes. If you’re not in the mood to cook, there are some incredible restaurants nearby. Smokey’s BBQ is within a mile…a nice walk if you’re in the mood, Acapulco Mexican is 11 minutes away and Maxx Bar & Grill is also 11 minutes away among others. We have 2 kayaks and a paddle boat for your use. We have life jackets (required) and misc. rafts/noodles. Bring your boat if you wish. The public launch is right across the street. We have plenty of space to park your trailer and cars in the yard. We do have a pontoon as an option to rent at an additional cost. We have basic fishing gear for your use as well. Coon lake is located in Anoka County. It is 1,481 acres and is approximately 27 feet deep at its deepest point. When fishing, anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including bluegill, sunfish, bass, northern pike, walleye, crappie and perch. The Lakeside Getaway was in a great location for a friends trip we planned. It is in a peaceful quiet neighborhood, and we regretted we could not take advantage of all it had to offer in terms of being near the water. We did not choose it for the water toys it had to offer, but it would have been great! Kathy responded in a very timely manner to our questions, and check-in and out were very simple. We were in town to play soccer at the national sports complex and this was only a 20 minute drive and was much better than staying downtown Minneapolis which is where some of the team stayed. The size was perfect for our family and having the game room was an added bonus especially when our grandchild was there. The lake was amazing and we were so happy that our son was able to bring his boat up for a couple of days and dock it at their dock. Our only real issue was the air conditioning we happen to be there at a time when temperatures were quite hot and unfortunately the AC could not perform well for the house outside. My suggestion would be at least ceiling fans or room fans in each room to help with that. But we hope to one day to come back and visit because it is a beautiful area. ##### Ethel D. Stayed 4 nights in Jun 2022 ### 8/10 Good #### Rebecca J. 6 Aug 2025 Liked: Check-in, communication We knew the cabin was across the street from the lake, but we were disappointed to realize there was nowhere to sit by the water other than on the dock or the pontoon boat.The kitchen counters had crumbs all over, the drawers are very messy with the cutlery tray in need of cleaning and the refrigerator had not been cleaned. The kitchen cupboards really need to be cleaned, and the cookware needs to be updated with a few everyday items instead of crammed with so much junk. There was plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, spices.There were plenty of towels and beach towels. The beds were tolerable however the pillows need updating. My king-sized pillow was covered with a standard pillowcase and so part of the pillow was sticking out. The shower in the master bedroom on the second floor has very little water pressure, so we had to go in the basement to take our showers.We enjoyed having a fire in the back of the house at night. We were able to go for walks in the morning. The neighborhood is quiet. Everyone had fun playing foosball at night. ##### Rebecca J. Our hosts took care of everything. Matt went out of his way in his day off to teach us how to use the pontoon! The central air was perfect for hot summer days and nights! The kitchen was fully stocked with essentials for cooking in house. The porch and living room views of the lake were beautiful! They even provided snacks! So thoughtful and lovely! ##### Carrie S. The traditional setting of the house provided warmth and a cozy feeling. However, for a winter visit, the family may want to reconsider due to the high functioning furnace that echoed throughout the house. Also, one has to alot enough time to hand wash the dishes. And, know how to operate antique electronic devices. Overall the house was cozy and provided the warmth that a small family will want. ##### Taiesha S. Winter tried to come one day but fall came back. This house was very clean and decorated very creatively. It was everything and more than was advertised. The decor is great and really makes it feel like a vacation. There was plenty of room for the 6 of us ages 14 and up. The cabin was cozy and perfect for our group of 6\. We enjoyed dinners on the deck in the evenings, fishing, and it was only a short jaunt to the beach for swimming and sand volleyball. We also made our way to Minneapolis several days so we could enjoy a mix of both city and cabin activities during our stay - location was great in order to do both! Only downside was not having warm water for showers if using the washing machine and also lack of space in the outside trash and recycle bins. However, the hosts were easy to contact and quick to respond to any of our questions. Overall we had a very nice time! ##### Melissa H. The living room, dining room, kitchen on the first floor is all open and is a nice gathering spot and having three bathrooms makes for a happy family. Outside, the front deck is shaded most of the day, the back deck and grill work really nice off the kitchen, and the fire pit is secluded and really nice. The house is not directly on the lake, but has a private boat dock. The lake is shallow and weedy by shore, but is clean and deep in the middle so we enjoyed swimming and paddle boarding. The best part was being so close to Minneapolis our adult daughters that had to work a couple of the days could come up and stay the night. Loved the area and this property. ##### George B. This property definitely wowed us! The inside is so well thought out and felt so welcoming. We had everything we needed and more. The outside was stocked with activities, we played corn hole, went for bike rides and chilled by the fire. They also have a pontoon boat for rent which was so fun, we took it out to the sandbar and relaxed and swam all day long. 10/10 would recommend this property, Matt and Kathy were wonderful hosts.
