"The hotel looks like a bargain at first, but the extra fees add up quickly — $49 for valet parking (plus tip) and another $15 for breakfast made the stay more expensive than expected. The staff was friendly and professional throughout, but they seemed stretched very thin due to understaffing. With more support for the team and clearer upfront pricing, the experience would have been much better. Besides the major parking issue, this is a beautiful hotel in a great location."

"The Mark Spencer hotel is the worst hotel in portland. The hotel itself is a boring nightmare with no character. However, it's the staff that makes it a horrific place to stay. When I stayed there for one night they lost $1000 worth of my belonings. I had just fled across country from an abusive relationship and could only bring 2 bags and my dog. They refused to compensate me in any real way, even though I had checked my luggage with them and they were responsible for keeping it. The manager is a night mare man who implied nothing I owned could be worth more that $100. I am 1000 miles from home and don't even have clothes. They also lost mine and my dogs medications, which are not replaceable. If you are staying in Portland, at least go across the street to the Clyde, it's a better hotel, with better staff, than won't try to ruin your livelihood."
