The COVID-19 outbreak has changed the way we travel, but it hasn't put the brakes on our lust for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to cope with travel's new challenges:

• Understand the restrictions and rules in both your destination and origin. You may not be able to travel depending on local circumstances, so be sure to check before you lock in your flight.
• Wear a face mask even during airport screening. A TSA employee will require you to lower your mask temporarily to verify your identity.
• To reduce the possibility of cross-contamination, position your boarding pass on the scanner yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your pass directly to a TSA agent.
• One container of liquid hand sanitizer is now permitted in your carry-on baggage. It must not be larger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll have to remove it from your bag for screening.
• To reduce handling during screening, place items such as your loose change and phone into your carry-on instead of the bins.
• If you're bringing food through security screening, put it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA agent will need to handle your carry-on bag or food container for closer inspection.
