The hotel offers a truly memorable stay, blending comfort with a distinct sense of character that sets it apart from standard accommodations. From the moment of arrival, the atmosphere feels warm and thoughtfully designed, with staff who are attentive without being overwhelming.

We enjoyed our overnight at the Sofia. We arrived around 2pm and were able to get our room right away. The room was a bit small, but was stylish and comfortable. We were too early to try out the dinner menu at the restaurant Truvo (Mediterranean style) unfortunately, but had a lovely breakfast there the following day. Guests get a discount. The front desk staff member was also able to give us an additional hour at check out when we asked. The venue was centrally located and very walkable to places and events. We went to a baseball game (Padres won!) and visited the Navy Seal Museum which is very good and more interactive than we anticipated. We will go again and bring the grandchildren. Our only chagrin was that the air conditioning was louder than we’d have liked and blew onto the bed. I would advise wearing an eye mask so that it doesn’t blow onto the eyes.

The property is a old motel and clean with maintenance problems.Our first room was against a room being renewed so noise from 8am and water coming up in our sink with awful smell.The second room was larger clean but the toilet seat was unattached and a hazard.The location was great.The small reception room was on the outside of the gate and you use a card to open gate to go in.

We loved the historic building and the location. It was close to everything we wanted to do. We wished we could’ve worked in the musical Hairspray but it was sold out on the days we were going to be there. The staff were great at the hotel. As an Elk Lodge member it was awesome visiting the Lodge and Bar.
