Westlock Bowl

I booked this hotel to be close to my child that was moving into MacEwen. I realized it was an older hotel and the location was iffy being downtown but for the price, the reviews seemed ok. What I didn’t realize was the price did not include paid parking ($25/night) and we had 2 vehicles there so I should have just stayed in a nicer place for the extra $100 I spent to park in a parkade known for break ins. The shower in our room was scalding hot even on the cold setting. Glad my husband went in first otherwise our kids would have come out with burns. The steam from the room set off the smoke detector when my son tried to shower. Maintenance came up twice to get our tv working both nights and then checked the shower and said it worked but it didn’t. The beds don’t have a comforter on them and there’s no fitted sheet on the bottom so the bedding is all over the place. They use those cheap brown blankets with holes in them and put another sheet over top for the comforter. The room also had no mini fridge and no free breakfast so very inconvenient for travelling families. For the $200/night we paid, I will drive across town and stay in a nicer place next time to see my kid.
