What a delightful place to stay in the charming town of Stornoway! Just a block off of the harbor on a quiet street. We stayed in the adjacent location which had a full kitchen and all necessary amenities, as well as a large television. The breakfast, including gluten free and vegan options, was simply extraordinary with wonderful choices, including homemade pastries by the owner. Our stay here just enhanced the overall experience of Stornoway. Highly recommended!!!

Staff were very helpful and accommodating. My initial room , I felt, had very poor ventilation. The ‘window’, with frosted glass, did not open and appeared to be connected to an inside corridor within the building. The bathroom extractor fan was either whisper quiet or did not function. As such, the room was very stuffy and stale smelling. I was very tired upon arrival and elected to seek help the following morning. Before retiring I saw that Expedia were asking for an opinion of my check in so I provided a potted version of the above. In the morning, the young lady at reception (who had been present the night before) stated before I spoke that “they had read my posting to Expedia and were organizing an alternative”. I was instructed just to pack up my belongings and they would be moved to my new accommodation. On my return I was allocated room 10. Upon entering the room my belongings were nowhere to be seen. I returned to reception and had to retrieve them myself. Mynew accommodation was slightly smaller than previous but did have windows. However, they looked out upon a small, enclosed roof area with ventilation(?) caps and plenty of seabird droppings. The opening was immediately overlooked by a room on the next floor and for privacy I had to keep the curtains closed. Unfortunately there was also an unpleasant odour intermittently present in the room that seems to originate from the bathroom area. The open windows helped mitigate that somewhat.

Great hotel with excellent staff who were welcoming and very helpful. We enjoyed our stay here. Room was large and comfortable with very comfortable beds. Nice bathroom. Excellent hearty breakfast.

The rooms are very spacious. A beautiful view of a castle and easy roadside parking.

27 Garenin was a pefect holiday let for our holiday in Lewis. It is warm, comfortable, and well equiped with plenty of hot water - a necessity after long, wet days out (to be expected).
