Beautiful cabin inside, but you walk outside and you have city life. They should say in their description "if you like the cabin feel but city life, this is for you!" Traffic is very loud, your right on hwy 18 In west Union IA. Casey's is 2 blocks away and a church across the street. This wasn't for us as we only stayed one out of our 2 day stay. .. Not satisfied!

It was breath taking! Quiet clean loved it!
My overall stay was great could have stayed alot longer! Place was clean well prepared with everything we needed, view was great location was good and i will definitely recommend and be staying again! My hosts were fantastic!!

Close to event center
This property is close to the event center in West Union and was perfect for family to stay for a wedding. The property is small but very clean!

Weekend in West Union
This cabin property worked very well for our visit in town West Union for a wedding at the Rustic Chic Event Center and reception at the West Union Event Center. It was also close to some state parks and campgrounds for hiking and kayaking. We struggled to find a state or county park open for swimming. The only reason we did a four star on a couple items is because we thought it would be a little more secluded or in the country, but it's really inside town towards the edge; however, the owners did a great job with the patio making it feel as secluded as possible.

Cozy for two
It was the perfect size for me and my partner. We enjoyed the local coffee shop and restaurants too! The cabin was conveniently located and had just the right amount of amenities for our short stay.

Edge of town
I rarely if ever will write a negative review but I feel as though I should share my latest experience which would have been different if the property listing wouldn't have been misleading in its description. The listing stated that the cabin was located on the edge of town which in fact it was but it's located on a main highway with heavy truck traffic with trucks applying loud noise braking devices. I believe the cabin was used as a model for a cabin sales company at one time with an adjacent cabin once serving as the office. I don't have any issues with this other than the lack of privacy. The bathroom was utilized as a utilities closet subsequently limiting the area and making the conditions very cramped. Finally, where were the adults suppose to sleep? The loft stairs were fine if you're 5' tall and 100 pounds which we aren't. Being 6' tall and 200 pounds wasn't pleasant negotiating the stairs. Also, there was only a mattress on the floor of the loft. I ended up sleeping on the hideaway bed which I'll need to visit a Chiro for a few weeks to get my back into its normal position again. I wouldn't stay or recommend staying at this property until they address the sleeping conditions. Another thing, both doors need to be rehung as they're not sealed and they didn't appear to be very secure.

Thank you for your concerns and suggestions. We will take them under advisement. The property has never “sold cabins”, and regarding the highway, it is in our property description, along with a map. Daily use of this road can not be helped. We strive to keep this property clean and affordable for all guests. We realize we can not please everyone, but we do have several awesome reviews on this cabin.

Terrific Cabin!
This cabin was the perfect place to stay while in West Union! Everything is labeled and easy to find, the place has great decor and amenities, and the owners were amazing to work with and flexible. If I'm ever in West Union area again, I'll be sure to stay again!

Great cabin.
My Son and I spent 10 nights here and it was perfect for our stay. We both loved the decor and comfortable lay out. It had everything we needed. Our hosts made sure we had everything and were very quick to respond. They really did think of everything.

Mechanic shop
Inside was very nice,clean and well stocked. The pictures on the outside of the cottage didn't show that the small patio faced a parking lot adjacent to a mechanic shop and felt that it took away from what we were hoping for.

Thanks for your comments. There are not any pictures of the back cabin view because it’s not our primary sitting area. The front of the cabin is more inviting and faces toward town and into the quiet and peaceful yard of our other Vrbo farmhouse rental. The back area is for extra parking, and evening bonfires. Perhaps next time, you may want to try our farmhouse rental. It has a large yard, trees and a stream through it. It’s located just left of the cabin you stayed at. We love this little cabin! It’s cozy but perfect for us when we visit NE Iowa. West Union is a nice town and convenient for getting to so many other places.

Truly a cozy little cabin.
We wanted just a short stay away from home and stumbled upon this property. I will warn others that west union is truly in the middle of nothing, however, everything we did was within an hour drive. The location of the cabin itself was easy to find but by the highway out of town so its a bit polarizing to the feel they are going for. You can hear the traffic and have lights at night that come by and take you out of the atmosphere a bit. Not too bad though. Besides the location the cabin itself was super charming and well set up. There was plenty of seating in the living area and the kitchen and bathroom had a lot of extra amenities for your use, such as teas, hot chocolate, oatmeal etc and extra tolietries in the bathroom. We had one issue with the outlets in the kitchen and the owner was very quick to respond and super kind during our stay. There was a list of things to do in the area, wifi which was fantastic, and the decor really made the cabin feel like a cabin. Overall we truly enjoyed our stay and it was a good base camp to explore parts of Iowa we haven't seen. I'd recommend staying more during the season of May through October though so more things are open to do.
