We had a lovely week in this waterfront home. We enjoyed the views and the kids loved playing on the rocks out back. It was a nice location and short walk to Hendricks beach and the General Store.
This house is ideally located walking distance to Hendricks beach, Southport General Store and the Cozy Harbor restaurant. Such a magic spot and well appointed, comfortable home. It was amazing to wake up every morning and look out on the sea.
I loved this place! It had almost everything we needed and a lot of it was not called out in the listing. The rooms were large with plenty of space to lounge and dine. The view is gorgeous! I could have spent 2 weeks.
Well supplied cottage with very comfortable
Beds. Was here with my family including 2 young kids property is mostly kid friendly. Description of
Property and house described very accurately in listing. Adirondack chairs on the large rocks.
This is a beautiful, quiet property. Amazing views from many rooms and the deck. The Adirondeck chairs on the water were heavenly. The mattresses and bedding were all high end and very comfortable. The kitchen was really well appointed. The decor was charming with lots of nautical themes. The owners were warm, welcoming and available. The walks to Hendrick's head beach were enjoyed by all.
All 4 bedrooms were very nice and 2 of those were very large. Beds and bedding very comfortable. Kitchen is small, we didn’t plan on doing very much cooking so it was all we needed. It was a handy having a washer and dryer! Living room and dining areas worked well for our group of 5. Beautiful water views. Short walk to the beach and the general store and just a 12 min drive in to BoothBay Harbor.
The house is overlooking the water so the view is great. Bathrooms and kitchen are well kept but show age. Sink space is small in both bathrooms. There is no dishwasher in the kitchen and tenants are supposed to clean the dishes themselves when they leave. This means the new tenants are at the mercy of the previous tenants. In our case some utensils had to be rewashed because of food stains. I think a dishwasher would help a lot.The house is big and can accommodate 8 people but there isn’t a big outdoor table for dining outside. Overall we had a lovely stay despite the issues mentioned above.
My family and I just concluded a month-long stay at this property and I cannot say enough about how great it is. I was born and raised in Maine but have spent the last 20 years away. Boothbay Harbor and Southport Island is a special place to me. My wife and I were married across the Island at the Newagen Seaside Inn.The property owners are fantastic -- detail oriented and quick to respond. We truly felt like their guestsThe property and house are true to the pictures, and I would say that they don't do the charm and view justice. The cottage is well laid out with two twin 'master' bedrooms and two more smaller but comfortable bedrooms. The fourth bedroom is perfect for kiddos -- our two boys loved it.The cottage is incredibly well appointed, and we had everything we needed for a whole month stay in terms of bedding, kitchen wares, etc.The local area is amazing. Hendricks Head beach is a stones throw away. The general store is premium and very close to the cottage. Cozy Harbor waits just around the corner -- Robinsons and the Newagen Seaside Inn are just a short drive away. Downtown Boothbay is no more than 12 minutes. Meanwhile, the cottage is set in perfect solitude. Our kids enjoyed finding crabs and seaglass on the rocks at low tide. We spent quiet mornings on the Adirondack chairs sipping coffee watching lobsterman tend their traps and families of swans shepherd little ones across the bay. It's magical. We cannot wait to go back
The house was in a great location, quiet and comfortable with great views! The host was easy to reach and answered all my questions. It was an easy walk to the Southport general store as well as the Hendricks head beach. We would definitely stay there again.
Excellent! Everything we could have wanted for a family vacation. Great views and great location close to the general store. Quality bedding and comfortable mattresses. Loved the beautiful duvets in every room. The Wolter Family
The home was perfect. The location made us feel like we were staying in a secluded log cabin, and the home was clean, comfortable and cozy, which made us feel like home. We rented kayaks and launched off the back rocks to explore the coast with the kids. Walked and biked to the beach and enjoyed the “neighborhood” of friendly Hendricks Head.
Very clean property--new appliances, everything worked! Beds comfy and even a welcome gift! Property manager was very communicative and helpful. Would highly recommend!!
What a great week our group of 7 had at this coastal cottage! The house is full of rustic charm, and its location on the water in quiet Southport, with easy access to Boothbay, offered the best of both worlds. We even hired a photographer to come take family portraits right on the rocky oceanfront in the house’s backyard! Mary and Paul were fantastic hosts and responded quickly to all of our questions. The house isn’t modern or upscale, but it had everything we needed and the beautiful surround you’d hope for from a relaxing vacation in Maine. Thank you, Mary and Paul!
The house has an excellent floor plan for both gathering and for privacy/alone time. The dining table was plenty big enough for all 9 of us to sit and talk comfortably, and the sectional couch (and chairs) in the living room accommodated us well, too. Kitchen was a bit tight and lacked some modern conveniences, but had oodles of everything we needed (except, oddly, paring knives and drink coasters!) The woodsy roads around the area made for good walking, and the waterfront access was greatly appreciated -- especially by the kids, who spent hours "hunting" on the rocks. The location was secluded but only a short drive from Boothbay Harbor, so we had a variety of options on how to spend our time.
