Find hotels in Wellington Park from £60

The best area to stay in Wellington Park is right on the mountain itself, specifically near the summit or within the lower slopes that offer direct access to the park's walking trails and natural beauty.

For couples seeking a romantic and secluded retreat, accommodation located within the lower slopes of Wellington Park is ideal. Imagine waking up to panoramic views of the Derwent River and Hobart, with private balconies offering an uninterrupted connection to nature. These properties often feature luxurious amenities like open fireplaces and high-end fitness equipment, making them great for a tranquil getaway. You'll find yourself just a short drive from the summit and numerous walking tracks, offering both relaxation and adventure.

Families looking for an active holiday will also find the lower slopes appealing. Many properties here are spacious, providing ample room for children to play and explore the surrounding bushland. Proximity to walking trails means you can easily embark on family-friendly hikes, spotting local wildlife like wallabies and various bird species.

The best time to visit Wellington Park is during the warmer months, from late spring to early autumn (November to April), when the weather is most favourable for outdoor activities.

During this period, you'll find the most comfortable temperatures for hiking, cycling, and exploring the park's natural beauty. The days are longer, offering more daylight hours for adventures, and the chance of encountering snow at higher elevations is reduced, making all trails and lookouts more accessible. This time of year is particularly good for families looking to enjoy picnics and walks without the chill.

For those interested in experiencing the park's flora, late spring (November-December) brings wildflowers into bloom, adding a colourful dimension to your walks. If you're keen on seeing the park at its most vibrant, this is an excellent choice.

While Wellington Park is accessible year-round, the cooler months (May to October) can bring cold temperatures, rain, and even snow, especially at higher altitudes.
