Nice home in rural quiet setting

Loved it!

Only stayed one night but we all wished we had more time to enjoy tubing and kayaking on the river. Great location with public access to the river only steps away from the house but far enough too that we still had privacy. Loved the screened in porch and sound of the small waterfall that was just across the road.

Family stay in Waupaca

We enjoyed our stay in the Waupaca area in the historic district of Rural. It is a nice quiet neighborhood in which you can enjoy privacy. Thank you for hosting us, it was a great setting!!

Great spot in a quiet neighborhood

We had a nice time at this lovely quiet property. The big screened in patio was a great spot to gather at the end of the day and play games or share meals. Close to the chain o lakes!

Family vacation

It’s a very nice house plenty of room for a family of seven. A nice two car garage which you can use close to the chain of lakes plenty a room in the backyard for games and a nice fire pit and all the restaurants that we ate at had good food.

Great place for a relaxing getaway!

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house is beautifully decorated and it is in the most charming area for a relaxing getaway. We especially loved the front porch and the screen porch. My boys spent most of their time exploring the river across the street. We also enjoyed kayaking the Crystal River. We would love to come back again!

Good Place

This is the 2nd time we've stayed here. Quant, small historic village. House is on creek. Nicely remodeled. Big screened porch for sitting and eating. Great backyard with big grill and firepit.

Rural house Waupaca

Lovely property, beautifully decorated - very inviting. We really enjoyed the screened in porch and fireplace on cool nights. Loved the Spa shower and jetted bath - very relaxing. The location is perfect for kayaking - we enjoyed kayaking the upper chain and then 1 mile of the Crystal river ending right at the Hyatt House. Nice neighborhood for walking.

Girls weekend

Absolutely darling cottage in historic Rural. Everything was beautiful. We enjoyed morning coffee, dinner, drinks and lots of laughs on the screened in porch. Spent some time down at the river and lots of walks around the quiet neighborhood. The perfect nest for our reunion of 6.

Quiet and Nice Home

Enjoyed our stay. Nice home in a very quiet neighborhood. Really loved the large porch and its furnishings. Enjoyed our walks along the Crystal River. Close to Waupaca and King with numerous shops and restaurants. Basic kitchen items. We enjoy cooking and there could have been more things in that regard, but we made it work. The owner was kind and quick to respond. It was a pleasant vacation.

Rural Stay

This is a historic home and at first glance it needed exterior paint which caused concern. However, once we went inside the house was clean and full of charm. The immediate reaction went away quickly and we had a great stay. No problem recommending this home to others and the property owners were very attentive to a couple of requests that came up.

Labor Day Weekend Kayak

We had a fantastic weekend vacation filled with kayaking, swimming, fires, good food and friends. We had two families- 8 people and the size of house was just right! Such a cute home and all the hometowns smells were awesome. The river in the front yard was so relaxing and quaint…. We felt blessed to be there and had a wonderful time. Shadow Lake swimming area was perfect for our boys who loved the high dive and the parents who needed cooling on the 100 degree Sunday we were there. The Red Mill home store and ice cream shop was so cool! Clearwater harbor was a yummy restaurant that welcomed dogs and had outdoor seating. Their blueberry mojitos was fantastic! I rate this family/friend vacation a 5 and would recommend this cute historic area to any wanderlust vacationers like us…

Wishing we could spend the whole summer at The Hyatt House!

FANTASTIC location! Home is directly across from the portage point for Crystal River and includes an expansive river front for recreation and relaxation. The historic home has been very tastefully redecorated to feel modern and comfortable. There is a screen porch where one can relax and was especially cozy during an afternoon rain storm. The afternoon rain shower provided us the opportunity to indulge in reading some of the area's history from the books that are provided in the home and also explore some of the darling shops in King (across from Comma Cafe). We rented the four kayaks and trailer that are available with the home, parked at the public lot across from The Casino and paddled the lower chain ending with a float down the breathtaking Crystal River and ending right to the house! It was a great family outing. If you enjoy single track, our boys biked nearby Hartmann Creek trails (there are three - beginner, intermediate and advanced). Home is only minutes from The Chain o' Lakes. We rented a pontoon from Outdoor Outfitters and enjoyed casual cruising through the beautiful lakes. Enjoy!

The Perfect Quiet Getaway

I booked this for my brothers and parents and I to get some family time for a week. We LOVED this place! Phone signal was nearly non-existent, so it was good we had the instructions saved offline to unlock the door. Once we got on the wifi, the signal was strong. First of all, the place smells incredible! They really paid attention to that, between room aroma, the fresh, soft linens, and the soaps. The design is right out of Better Homes and Gardens - just clean, bright and simple, but no shortage on supplies. Everything we needed for coffee and cooking was available, including a nice big propane grill and hot dog sticks for the firepit. We spent all of our time either in front of the fireplace (at night) or out on the screened-in porch (during the day). The atmosphere was PERFECT. The little neighborhood of retirement/vacation homes was quiet and serene - though this was right after Labor Day when school started. I couldn't get enough of walking around it, admiring the historic houses, gardens, and quaint little creek ("river") that ran through the back yards. We even rented kayaks from the host - I wish we'd done more of that, because the one day we went (we put in just across the street), we had a blast. The host was consistently available for questions and recommendations, which were exactly what we'd hoped for. We even took the boat tour of the Chain of Lakes, which had a lot of cool info and gorgeous views. We're already talking about our next return. Will definitely stay here again! Many thanks to our host!

Peaceful Getaway: We enjoyed our stay. Beds were comfortable. Great master shower. Bad phone/inter.!

We loved the location & enjoyed taking walks with our dog in the peaceful neighborhood. The house was comfortable & well stocked with cookware. We had hoped there would have been a better supply of some kitchen items like coffee, spices, condiments, etc. & a hair dryer, shampoo, & body wash. We appreciated the gift basket and really enjoyed the two free tickets for the Waupaca Chief lake cruise. The pictures online were a little misleading as it made it look like you had access to the river from the backyard. In reality, you had access across the street & that was not clearly defined. This place had horrible internet & phone service. The only place we could make a successful phone call was from the master bedroom and we didn't discover that until the next to the last day there. Because of the bad phone & internet service, we didn't receive our entry instructions to the house until we had gone out for supper. At the restaurant, we finally received the code for the combination lock on the front door. Luckily, someone had left a side door open, and we were able to bring our things in. In spite of some problems, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in the home. We were able to relax well there & it was relatively close to lots of good eating places. I would recommend this place to others. Just realize the phone & internet service is really bad.

Excellent place to stay in historic area

Rented for family reunion. Very clean, recently renovated. Nice touches everywhere. Enjoyed spacious screened porch for dining and grill for food preparation and fire ring for after dinner s’mores with kids. Would highly recommend and plan to stay again in future

Quaint, historic and relaxing!

My family enjoyed a wonderful stay at this gem in Rural. We loved playing and floating in the Crystal River, biking to the Red Mill, biking around Rural and endless hours reading on both of the immaculate porches. We loved our stay and can’t wait to stay again.
