Walking down the path from the parking area you will see the confluence of Canyon Creek and the Washougal River and cabin nestled amongst cedar trees where you will be staying. The cabin was originally built in the 1920's as a vacation home for a predominate Portland Judge. The house is in an absolutely gorgeous spot with water all around! I would describe house as updated rustic. If it matters with the ages/makeup of your group, one of the bedrooms is in an unattached structure. Beds/linens were comfortable. We couldn’t get the hot tub to fill but other than that everything was in good working order. Little drive (15 min or so) to town with restaurants. Wonderful winter getaway. We look forward to another stay in the warmer months too.Some feedback: - Our stay was in the midst of the holidays so I think some grace is necessary here. That said, the nightly stay is a substantial amount and I would have expected better response from the home manager. Several messages were answered either really late or not at all. None of the questions would have changed our stay but would have been helpful for planning/staying.- We had to purchase toilet paper and more firewood for the fireplace. Only to find out that the TP was simply hidden in a cupboard under the stairs.- The firewood heated outdoor tub was a blast and it took most of the day to get it to a soaking temperature. Jaw dropping. It is your own private waterfall(s). We spent many hours simply listening to and gazing at the falling Waters. (And yes, plunging into the frigid waters). Surrounded by old growth 500-year-old trees and mossy branches. Native blooms everywhere. An old-fashioned grill, back dropped by a waterfall . Mental health break for all. It seems silly given the one-of-kind location to address the cabin, but it is equally stunning. Though it was built 100 yrs ago, it has been completely rehabbed. Owner (a friendly chill local guy) spent a few years at Ralph Lauren, And it shows. Tasteful subtle Pacific Northwest style. High ceilings, rough hewn beams.All new,high-end quiet appliances (Bosch,etc). Inverters in each room for personal coziness. Mattresses better than our home Tempur-pedics. Yes, a wooden fruit bowl! A vase. Detailed stuff often missing at rentals. Full spice cabinet. I will remember this sweet cabin in this little waterfall valley forever in my dreams.
