Disappointing!!! — not at all as represented in the VRBO listing.I’ll start with the positives: the home does have enough bedrooms for a large group and is located in a lovely, walkable neighborhood. We enjoyed being close to a grocery store, coffee shop, and a few restaurants, and it’s about a 45-minute walk to Old Alexandria. The yard has mature trees, and the home itself has character. That said, the layout is unusual. It appears multiple common areas (living room, parlor, etc.) have been converted into sleeping spaces, some in awkward locations. While there are plenty of places to sleep, functionality suffers. The bathrooms are outdated, and notably, the only bathroom on the main floor requires walking through a bedroom to access it.The biggest concern is the condition of the property. Upon arrival, there was trash left outside and the backyard/patio was in disarray, with broken items and poorly maintained furniture. Inside, we found shifted kitchen flooring with gaps (a tripping hazard), loose doorknobs, cobwebs in stairwells, broken blinds (impacting privacy), stains on linens, and even a large container of roach killer in a closet. The agent offered to send cleaners , but the level of maintenance needed could not realistically be addressed during our short (and expensive—3,700) three-night stay without major disruption. This property has much potential, but it currently feels very neglected and not reflective of its listing.
