You’ll love my place because of the well-lit living area, the comfy bed, and the coziness. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and small families. The Space: Washington D.C.’s Takoma neighborhood is a diverse, middle-class neighborhood that is an ideal location for those visiting the city for business or pleasure. A downtown renovation project has brought in new businesses, making this area one of D.C.’s up-and-coming neighborhoods. Visitors can enjoy viewing the beautiful historic homes, visiting the Takoma Recreation Center which features a pool, skate park, playgrounds, and special events, or taking a 10-minute walk to the Takoma Metro station to explore the history and excitement of the nation’s capital. When not taking in the sites that the city has to offer, you can rest easy in this 1-bedroom fully-furnished basement apartment. You will be able to enjoy privacy and comfort while relaxing after sightseeing or taking a break from business. This apartment is stylishly appointed with the modern amenities you need for an enjoyable and relaxing stay. Kick back and enjoy watching your favorite TV shows or movies on the wall-mounted LCD television with cable in the living room, or simply share a story from the spacious and comfortable sectional sofa. Keep your favorite snacks on hand in the cozy kitchen area. Though it's not a full kitchen it is equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The house is also furnished with a front-load washer and dryer. This apartment features a private bedroom with a comfortable Queen bed for an exceptional night of rest of the sleeper. The bedroom is also equipped with a desk to provide workspace for those traveling to the city for business. You also have your own private bathroom that is stocked with essentials, including bath towels, shampoo, and other toiletries for a refreshing shower. You’ll be able to stay connected with our high speed Wi-Fi service, so you can keep in contact with family, post photos of your travel, or finish up your work outside of the office. Check-ins are available 24-hours a day, so late arrivals are no problem. It might not be a condo, but this apartment is kid-friendly, so guests with small families are welcome. This space comfortably sleeps three people and is located in a safe and friendly neighborhood and is equipped with a carbon monoxide detector, smoke detector, and first-aid kit for your safety. Guest Access: Guests have a private entry access to the house and have the entire basement (not an upstairs condo) to themselves. There is available space in the backyard / courtyard for guests to enjoy a relaxing moment. There is also street parking for small group of guests with a car. Getting Around: The best way to take advantage of everything that Washington D.C. has to offer is via the Takoma Metro station, which is just a 10-minute walk from your apartment. Bike share service is available at the station for those who want to tour the Manor Park area by bike, and car sharing and bus service are also available transportation options available at the Takoma station. Other Things to Note: While small families or multiple guests are allowed to stay at the property, we do not permit parties or events. Parties and events thrown at this location are subject to additional charges. It is a basement unit. The shower had very small ants. The bathroom is contained in a very small area with the toilet up against the sink. The main bed has seen better days and was uncomfortable. The pull out couch was not useable and our friend slept on the couch instead. The internet dropped out a lot for devices including the TV. Loved the neighbourhood and felt very safe with our car parked out front. The host was very quick to respond to all queries. Very polite and courteous. We stayed for 5 nights end of May and first week of June 2024\. It was 20-30 minutes from all downtown attractions. No spoons, with only the very small bathroom sink for washing dishes. The washer had a very moldy smell. I ended up with an upper respiratory infection. Due to either the dampness of the basement or the filter in the air conditioner upstairs. No control of that for us. No lighting at the bottom steps at the entry door. A bit dangerous. Power in bedroom went out as well as patio lights. Very dark. And the brown liquid dripping in the (kitchen area} from upstairs was not fun. We had to ask for a mop to clean that mess. The bed was the worst. Wifi for tv was very intermittent. It kept buffering or shutting down. No instructions on heater in the bedroom. Nowhere to put clothing & only 3 hangers. All of downtown DC was pretty far away. Not convenient at all. And we were very disappointed & couldn't wait to get away. The cost was very outrageous for what we actually got. We contacted the owner, and he was willing to cover the costs of the things we had to purchase. He offered after two days for the cleaners to come. We did not want the cleaners to come because we cleaned ourselves. I was literally on the floor on my hands and knees cleaning the bathroom. And there were lots of ants. The infestation of ants was our major concern. The owner said I should buy insect repellant to take care of the ants. I did this. They just kept coming back. There were even ants in the bed. I went back and forth about this with the owner. He was very focused on the cleaning. He did not offer to have an exterminator come in. He should have paid for one night at a hotel for us while the ants were being taken care of. He eventually gave me a refund of one and a half days. I asked for a refund for the whole week. The place was unlivable so we moved out after three days. I was never given a full refund. I could live with the bare bones apartment and the cleaning. I could not live with the ants. The owner needs someone to come in and do a very deep clean and an exterminator to come out. We were in town because our daughter was having a baby. We picked the location because it was ten minutes away from our daughter. It was extremely stressful to move out and find new accommodations that were not close to our daughter. The owner seemed like a nice guy, but he did not take care of the ant problem. ##### Megan F.
