Twenty feet from the water. In our opinion we have the best Maui location on Maui(peaceful, central, uncrowded and non 'touristy' Maalaea), the best building in Maalaea - Kanai a Nalu (first one on the 4 mile beach) and about the best unit (401) in Kanai a Nalu (oceanfront corner - fantastic view from every window). Fall asleep to the gentle sound of the surf outside your bedroom window and wake to a beautiful Maui sunrise across the bay over magnificent 10,000 foot Haleakala. Eat breakfast on your lanai while you watch whales and surfers on the bay below you. Unobstructed views ( the best in Maalaea) from every window - even the kitchen looks to the West Maui Mountains. In the picture section the 2nd or 3rd picture there is a YouTube “video” walk through. Also some recent guests have a travel blog/Chanel that has a short YouTube video: look for Adventuresinmillerland - Maui 2 Bedroom Condo Tour. Both bedrooms and the living room have fantastic views but also complete privacy (We never close the curtains). Kitchen is remodeled and fully equipped. Island style furniture throughout including a new Beauty-rest king size bed, very comfortable tropic style living room set , free wireless DSL, side by side fridge with filtered water/ice in door, Air Conditioning in living room, washer -dryer. Both bathrooms recently updated with new fixtures, tile, granite, and real stone vessel sinks. We just tore up the carpet and installed beautiful mango wood floor in living room and master bedroom. We added 50 inch flat screen ROKU UHD smart TVs in the living room and Master Bedroom. Beautiful new upholstery on living room furniture is too new to show up on video but we do have pictures. Living area has a relaxing tropical ambiance with much original artwork. Maalaea and Kanai a Nalu: Maalaea is a small village that is the best of both worlds. We are far enough away from the traffic and 'shoulder to shoulder' tourist areas that you can truly relax and appreciate what Maui living is really about. Yet we are the most central spot on the island for easy access to all that Maui has to offer. Our Kanai-a-Nalu condo complex is a four-story, U-shaped building with a beautiful courtyard that is open to the ocean. It shelters a wonderful tile swimming pool on the ocean's edge. You may decide to walk down to Maalaea Harbor to take a whale watching, snorkeling, fishing, or sunset dinner cruise. The harbor area also boasts the newly constructed Maui Ocean Center, a world-class marine aquarium considered to be the best in the Islands. It also offers several fine ocean view restaurants, interesting shops, and places to buy fixings for a quick meal 'at home'. Cleaning and Taxes: Our cleaning costs have risen dramatically due to labor cost and extra Covid precautions. It has gone from $145 to $240\. Covid has also affected taxes. The State of Hawaii lost quite a bit of revenue during Covid and no longer shares their state tax with Maui County so Maui has imposed its own 3% tax which bring the total tax to 17.25%. (Hawaii tourist tax 10.25%, Maui tourist tax 3%, “Excise” tax 4%) I don’t like it but we do need to collect it. Due to storm wave activity our direct beach access was damaged and rebuilt but it was damaged again. You will see pictures of our beach out front before the storm damage. The beach was always there but depending on season and storms it grew or shrank. At this time the beach starts not right out front but at the end of our property. We still access the beach from our oceanfront lawn but now enter at the far end to the left as you face the ocean. You do need to step over a short (about 2 foot) “fence” and down onto the beach. See the pictures of beach access on this site. We are working on a more permanent solution but not sure when that will happen. The beach has good swimming, is about 4 miles long and backs to the wildlife preserve so there is nothing but you and the ocean. All I can say is wow. We have had the most wonderful stay at this condo. The location is tranquil and very central. The condo is clean, well appointed and comfortable. We love the breeze that blows through the init all day and the wonderful sound of crashing waves from the lanai. This was a wonderful place to stay and I hope we will be back in the future. We really enjoyed our stay! The condo was beautifully decorated with modern updates. The view was amazing! I even saw whales from the balcony! Going to sleep with the sound of the waves was soothing! That impacted our visit a lot. I’m hoping properties rebuild the steps soon. Otherwise, the views and general location can’t be beat. ##### Penn M. This top corner condo is the best one in this complex and probably on the whole street! It was everything we wanted and more. Had plenty of space, well equipped, and the sound of waves crashing day and night to lull you asleep was amazing. This condo is on the windiest harbor in all the US (per Trilogy boat operator) but honestly the wind gave the condo a perfect breeze to cool it down and relax. The beds were comfortable and the complex was quiet. The views were great as we saw whales breaching and turtles in the water off the balcony. Sandy beach right down the way to float in the ocean was a huge plus. We cannot wait to book this place again! ##### Leigh I. The wind does pick up quite a bit in the afternoon, but the breeze keeps the condo at a fairly comfortable temp if you open the doors & windows. We had sand in our rental car and the proprry mgr loaned me a shopvac so I could clean it out (I've been told the car companies are very picky about sand). Overall a great place! ##### Valerian W. It exceeded expectations! The view from the porch was breath-taking, and the sound of the waves lulled us to sleep every night. (And for occasional naps.). The neighborhood was just right—not too many people and little to no traffic. The property manager went above and beyond! She collected our mail, and sent out a worker (also wonderful) the same day to fix something…It was rectified so efficiently, I cannot even remember the issue! I highly recommend this place!! We absolutely loved our stay in this condo. Walking in I was very impressed with how immaculate it was. It is exactly as described in the photos and description. The best part was the view and lanai. We loved the constant breeze through the condo and especially loved falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore each night. We spent a lot of time on the lanai watching the sun rise over Haleakala, surfers catch waves and sea turtles swimming below. Having beach towels, chairs and a cooler were a wonderful addition. Location wise we loved Maalaea. It is quiet and a great central location to almost everything on the island. This is an absolute gem of a condo and we are already planning a return trip! I was hesitant to stay since we had never stayed in Maalaea before but I would definitely stay there again. From the minute we walked in the door and looked out on the lanai to see several turtles right below the unit and the whales out in the bay, we were hooked. The condo was exceptionally clean and well appointed. Everything we needed for our daily stay as well as plenty of beach towels, boogie board, ice chest, beach chairs, etc. We did not use the air conditioning because of the winds being adequate to keep the unit cooled - and a few days got very, very windy. But in general the breezes were perfect. There are ceiling fans in every room. It was a very walkable location down to the beach, which we did a few mornings. Not directly in front but a short walk via a sidewalk on the road. The beach is practically deserted and you can walk for miles. And very swimmable. We also walked into the Harbor and had dinner at a couple of different restaurants. We liked that it was convenient to Kahului, Kihei and the Kaanapali area. ##### MARY O. We enjoyed watching the sunrise and spotting whales from the balcony; and snorkeling with turtles at the beach a few meters from the property. The unit seemed stuffy when we arrived, yet within seconds of opening the windows we were comfortable and rarely needed the air conditioning. Although the building has an elevator we never used it because we were so close to the stairs. We got our exercise walking up to the 4th floor multiple times a day; we apprciated the location and enjoyed the privacy this unit offers.Not having traveled to Maui frequently, we didn't know this area well. We were amazed at how convenient it was, all the stores and restaurants we needed were close (including Starbucks), Kihei was only 10 min and it was convenient for day trips to Hana or Haleakula. Plus the OGG airport was less than 20 min away. The only negative was a scheduleing conflict that ocurred at the time of booking, however the issue was handled promply, honestly and with good communication. We greatly enjoyed our time at this property and would recommend it to friends and family. ##### Jared N. Beautiful water views and enjoying a drink watching the turtles from your private lanai can’t be beat. Easy stroll to beach at end of road with a great local feel. Located on west side near the middle of the island provides easy access to explore all the island has to offer.
