Our family of 14, meets up once a year during college football season to watch the Ft Hays Tigers. Great space and location for a large and growing family.
This property is unique with great space to accommodate all guests. Everyone thought the place was awesome. A great way to utilize an old property. It hits all the categories to make it a do gainer.
We found this listing when looking for a good place for our large family Christmas gathering. 10 adults and two kids. This place fit our needs beautifully, and it was nice to be in a Christmas themed town. The house was decorated for Christmas and there was lots of room for gifts under the big tree. We got to eat at the Brazen Bull, and had brought food for other meals and bought some at the local grocery store because we know places would be closed for the holidays. The new Prairie Rose was open for brunch but we didn't have a chance to check it out during this trip. We attended a candle light service at a nearby local church which was lovely. The hosts were always very responsive and when we asked about services and events in town, they gathered flyers and information about events in town for us to view when we arrived. The upstairs rooms do have the high ceilings and walls don't go all the way up, as noted in other reviews. Not an issue for us except sound carries easily, so earplugs are a good idea if you go to bed early. We ate all our big meals at the large dining table, and played games and did puzzles at that table and the one in the breakfast nook. The "child's room" is a great coat and shoe closet! The downstairs was cozy and perfect for kids to hang out, especially in the mornings. The beds were comfy, except the pull out bed. The bathroom sinks were pretty high up, so a step stool might be needed. Overall an amazing stay and we would love to come back!
The stay was absolutely fantastic. Everyone loved the facility and are making plans for next year. We might be back! We held a Photoshop Digital Painting Class along with a lot of conversation and visiting. The facility was perfect and very accommodating for our event. We highly recommend this facility for a beautiful and peaceful place to stay.
Our stay was wonderful!! We had our family Thanksgiving dinner with our Aunt and cousin and hubby. The Kirsh Haus is very inviting and beautifully reconstructed.
This was a beautiful little place to get together with great people. It was relaxing weekend. The owners were ready to teach when we needed them. I would recommend this place to anyone.
We enjoyed our stay in Wakeeney! This place fit our family and had everything we could ask for. Check in and check out process easy and simple. Thank you for allowing us to use your property!!
Beautifully renovated church that was perfect for our large family gathering, which traveled to Kansas to celebrate our son’s wedding! Accommodations were just as described and did not disappoint. I would highly recommend this property and would love to come back. Thank you
We enjoyed a spacious place to stay everybody had a bed We had a wonderful kitchen to cook in. Beaut
We stayed 6 nights We went to Hayes to see the museum, the fort Hays and the waterpark. We eat out in Hays, we also ate out in wakeeny has a great steakhouse Went to Dodge City and also just spent a couple days lounging around because the place is so comfortable. Oh and Hill City had the rodeo! So much fun
Kirch Haus was fabulous! We have a reunion every year, and we all agree that this was the best VRBO ever. There were 10 of us and we had ample room. We were in the area to research our ancestry. Come to fine out, we had a relative right across the street! If it wasn't so far, we'd be back for the Christma lighting.
An absolutely quaint spot in the middle of superman Kansas nowhere! Everything inside was modern, attractive, and easy to use. The owners forgot nothing. The scavenger hunt was fun and we really appreciated the mug! The main bed was exceptionally cozy, the bathtub was soothing, and the living room was refreshingly spacious. The ginormous TV was great for movies. If we get the chance, we will definitely return! May Christ continue to bless the owners and residents to come!
Oh my gosh! We all loved it. 6 adults, 1 18 yr old and a 7 yr old and an 8 yr old. My family! We loved the setup. The kids could get away from us and loved the downstairs, particularly the record player! We picked up pizza the first night and the rest of the time, we cooked our own meals. Everything we needed to do that was available. The decor was cute as a button. We really had time to reconnect and hug on each other which is what "Meemaw" looks forward to each year.
We booked the Kirch Hus for the weekend of our wedding and it was absolutely perfect. The bride and bridesmaids stayed Friday night and were able to get ready for the wedding Saturday morning there. The space was extraordinary. Plenty of beds and bathrooms and open space for such a beautiful wedding morning. The local hairstylists were able to come in and do hair and makeup there. I can only imagine how beautiful the pictures will be! Then Saturday night the bride and groom were able to stay there after the wedding reception. There’s no more beautiful place to get to stay for the weekend of a wedding in the area! We just could not recommend the place enough! Everything was stellar.
The Kirch Haus is definitely cute and quaint, and the idea of staying in an old church is charming in theory. Unfortunately, our actual experience was far from comfortable.Every single morning, we woke up to an alarming number of dead flies scattered throughout the house—on the floors, counters, and other surfaces. There is a large fly-attracting device mounted on the wall with a bright blue light, but despite that, we still had to vacuum up multiple piles of flies each day. It was extremely unpleasant and honestly pretty disgusting. While the building itself has character, there is zero privacy or soundproofing throughout the downstairs area. You can hear everything from every room. In addition, most of the sinks are set very high, which makes basic tasks like washing hands or brushing teeth difficult for shorter guests. This property is also absolutely not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. There is no ADA-compliant entrance, and navigating steps is unavoidable. Anyone who struggles with stairs or needs accessibility accommodations would not be able to stay here safely or comfortably.Overall, the charm of the house doesn’t outweigh the practical issues we encountered.
This place was beautiful for a festive Christmas gathering with our family! We are from Colorado and my parents are from Illinois, so this little place was the halfway point. There isn’t much to do in the area but we didn’t mind at all, we just loved spending time together at the home. The kids loved doing the scavenger hunt for the old church items that the owner had left for us to do. We were able to place presents under the tree and do a full Christmas dinner with the well appointed kitchen. There was plenty of space, the kids could hang out in the basement while the adults played cards or watch a movie. We will absolutely do this again! Thank you!
