Volcán de Ipala

I would have given this place 5 stars except that they have a mouthy guy at the gate who didn't want to let me leave the property after I checked out unless and until I followed whatever strict ticket scanning protocol he had made up that day. He could have just pushed a button and lifted the gate after a quick radio call to the front desk to make sure I was on the up-and-up, but he decided instead to lord over his parking domain like a petty little tyrant. He lost them a star. Aside from that the place is almost perfect. There were some weird stains on the bedspread (come on, we all know what it was) and I didn't need to see that. Get rid of the gate guy and change out the bedspreads and you have a perfect hotel.

We had the most amazing stay at this property! The hotel was insanely beautiful and very well kept. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of, and accommodated every request we had. Truly have never been so impressed by a hotel. 1000% recommend staying here if you are traveling to Lake Atitlan/San Marcos. They can even help arrange private transfers for you to eliminate stress. I will definitely be back in the future, not one bad thing to say about this hotel!!! Huge thank you to the staff- you truly made this a memorable stay for us!

I submitted a review after the first night, that the room did not have a desk or table. I was very frustrated and was not kind. The reception desk manager made arrangements to move me to another room that had everything I need. Danilo went above and beyond to provide me what I needed. I had fruit for breakfast and everything was excellent. The rooftop restaurant and bar had unbelieveable views of the area.
