A few small things: it rained every day and stormed with high winds. Water blew in onto the floor from the ocean facing sliding door. The door lock mechanism broke off the sliding door from the living room out to the larger balcony. There was trash in a bathroom trash can and one of the commodes had not been flushed. For four adults utilizing all three bathrooms, there was not enough toilet paper at just one roll per bathroom. Cons - Nothing was show stopping or preventing me from booking again. -pretty quiet property by relaxing -only one of the showers/water faucets at the beach / pool access area was working to rinse sand off. -no luggage carts to help load / unload luggage. -elevators stopped working a couple times -Unit was a little dated but worked just fine for my group. -Main balcony had the air conditioning unit which was loud and it blowing hot air. Also needed to be sprayed for spiders multiple times throughout the stay. (bring spray). -Pool Bar needs to be open! -Definitely connect to wifi, you won't have service without it, if you need your phone/internet ;) Overall, the complex needs a little TLC but worked great for my group. 5 mins from market/store, 20-25 mins from main area of stores and restaurants. 25-30 mins from heart of Virginia Beach. ##### Tim R. We didn’t feel like we were on top of each other. The balconies were nice too. I liked that they were separated so I could go on the small one drink my coffee without anyone talking to me in the morning. It was a well stocked kitchen. Lots of utensils and pans and dishes to cook the local seafood we bought. There was a lot of storage in all the bedrooms and the kitchen. Beautiful views and the beach was very clean. However, we felt that the beach was too congested for our liking. Other than that it was a great trip!! ##### Megan C. There was, however, no wine opener. That was an easy fix. The outside porches need a good power washing and the windows need to be washed. I know I am being picky by saying this, but the window treatments for the place were cumbersome and obstructive to the awesome view. Having owned a vacation rental property, I understand the need to economize on things, so it is just the decorator in me. The place was great. Just think the porches need some TLC! ##### Ellen C. This first floor condo was perfect - great location! It has lots of room - very clean, nice size fully stocked kitchen, living room with three couches, large tv, and large dining table. Comfy beds in the three bedrooms and having three bathrooms was a bonus. No hairdryers, but they weren’t listed on the amenities anyway. So bring your own! Two nice balconies looking over the ocean with lots of seating. The beach was wonderful - easy access. Didn’t find any beach chairs or umbrellas at the condo. We brought our own or you can rent them in Sandbridge. Pools and hot tubs weren’t open yet. Was advertised mid-May but was told by servicing that they didn’t open until Memorial Day. They looked very nice! Easy access to the garage. Like most garages, the parking spots are small, but we managed with our SUV. The grills need servicing. There were about 12 grills and took 8 tries to find one that worked. Two restaurants close by - Jose Tequila and Baja Restaurant. Both were very good! The coffee shop in Baja served breakfast and small lunch menu! Communication with Vacasa was good…easy check in instructions, text to make sure it was clean, and check out. We would definitely stay at Sandy Bottoms again! ##### Donna P. Stayed 3 nights in May 2023 This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 4/10 Poor #### JACQUELINE L. 6 Jul 2025 #### Cleanliness and Maintenance are lacking While the location itself and of the unit are fabulous, it was sad for us to see the overall appearance of the facility go downhill. We stayed at the Sanctuary about 3 years prior and had no complaints. The property is quite obviously not being maintained- needs a good power washing for outdoor areas. The stairways smelled like urine and they are in dire need of an exterminator - there are spiders EVERYWHERE. Also not shown anywhere in the listing is that the outdoor bar with swim up pool is not operating. The building itself was left closed, and has been for years apparently. The unit itself had everything we needed but appeared to have not been cleaned well in a very long time. There was garbage under the bed in the kids room, debris under the furniture, the kitchen and bath surfaces had not even been wiped down- we know becuase we bought cleaning supplies and did it ourselves. Living room furniture was dusty. The dishwasher was full and had not been emptied and there were spider webs in all of the corners of the unit. While they did send someone to vaccum the spider webs the unit was quite obviously let go and in desperate need of a deep clean. In addition the exhaust fan in bath for the second bedroom does not work which made the room quite warm after showering even with the bathroom door open. In the kitchen we discovered a leak under the sink that someone had put a pot under to catch water. This leak got worse during our stay and eventually the kitchen floor was flooded with water. They did come to fix it but obviously slacked on the repair previously. It’s a shame that whoever is responsible for maintenance at this property is not doing their job. The location is so perfect it’s sad to see it go downhill. Ultimately while we enjoyed our vacation and the beach is beautiful. Vacasa needs to consider a revamp of whomever is maintaining this property. Unfortunately we would not stay again based on this experience. ##### JACQUELINE L. Condo was pretty clean aside from the floors - they turned our feet black so make sure to bring extra socks to walk around in. Some of the functionality on the appliances were not working. There too isn’t any cell service aside from the Wi-Fi that worked 90% of the time. Condo decor is nice. ##### Amanda V. ---
