Sleep soundly in the spacious primary bedroom with views of the beach and ocean right from the bed. You'll love the big private main bath with an extra deep jetted jacuzzi-style tub, separate shower, and a water closet, along with double vanity. The family room offers plenty of seating and is open to the dining room and kitchen with beautiful ocean views. Walk right out onto the private balcony and kick back with your favorite beverage. Of course, it’s all oceanfront giving you and your family easy quick access to the beach. Feel like grilling up some surf and turf? Head down to the community area and you'll find two grilling stations not far from the pool. Let the kids splash and enjoy dinner poolside! Feeling adventurous? Rent bikes/kayaks locally at Ocean Rentals and tour the Back Bay Wildlife Refuge. Things to Know Charcoal grilling stations and picnic tables are located on the west side of the building. The charcoal and supplies are not provided. The community pool is open annually from mid-May to mid-September for guest use. Pool dates are weather permitting and at the Condo Association's discretion. No smoking, no parties, no events, and no pets allowed. Do not move furniture between rooms. The parking garage has a height of 6 foot 4 inches. Electric vehicles are not permitted to park in the Sandbridge Dunes garage. This includes Lithium-Ion Hybrids and Lithium-Ion bikes. Electric bikes and any Segway toys are not permitted in the units. Vehicles must be parked outside and away from the building. You will need to park outside either in the North or West lot, Marlin Drive, or in the public lot South of the community. This property is managed by Vacasa Virginia LLC. No pets are allowed at this vacation rental. Parking notes: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles. Guest entry instructions: This rental utilizes an E-lock, a digital lock that requires a unique code to enter. This code is reset after each guest's stay. The condo was very nice and clean. It actually looks bigger in person than in the pictures. The only (minor) con was I would recommend bringing your own streaming stick because one of the tvs doesn't have streaming capabilities. Otherwise it was a really nice and well stocked place to stay. It needs a little TLC but all in all it was nice. The kitchen is fully stocked for all your cooking needs with the exception of the frying pans. They are no longer non-stick but not a big deal. We planned a visit to celebrate my wife's birthday with our kids & granddaughter and worked through Vacasa to select the Salty Mermaid as our place to stay. Prior to arrival all Vacasa employees were friendly and great to work with. As we walked into the Condo for the first time, we were blown away by the size, decor, and cleanliness! Booking online and making a decision based on photos and descriptions can be scary, but the Salty Mermaid took all stress away. The condo is stocked with any cooking and serving item you would need during your stay. The rooms are spacious and furniture comfortable. The balcony looking over the ocean is so relaxing! We also enjoyed the multiple levels of security needed to access the parking garage and elevator, which created a safe place. During our stay everything went smoothly and only had a minor glitch with the internet, which was quickly resolved and with operating the digital lock on the front door (user error). The maintenance team of Brian and Kenneth who assisted were friendly/knowledgeable and quickly assisted us to resolve any issues. I can't say enough positives about The Salty Mermaid and Vacasa on this visit. We will definitely return to The Salty Mermaid. ##### Kimberly F. The front room carpets need replacing and the bathrooms were not very clean. There was a sewage smell when we arrived and it took about a day to air it out. Especially noteworthy is the kitchen - most well stocked utensil selection I’ve seen in a home rental, which was important as we were visiting family and helping with Thanksgiving meals. The master bed/bath are enormous and the main kitchen/dining/living area is very open and accommodated our group of 7 nicely. The kitchen was well supplied for cooking several breakfasts/dinners. The carpeting in the living and master bath seemed brand new. The unit was one of the cleanest upon arrival of the many beach places we have rented along the east coast. We would definitely return to this unit again in the future. A word of caution...there is no cable TV provided...you must stream using your own streaming accounts. That was a little bit of a bummer as our sports family would have enjoyed watching NHL/NBA finals in the evening and the start of the US Open. But we still loved the unit, the ocean view, the proximity to the beach and the local market across the street. We had a family Thanksgiving vacation. Kitchen was well stocked. I cooked a complete Turkey Day meal and didn't want for any pan or casserole. And they were nice, not cheapo stuff. Beds were comfy. You can see a little of the ocean but it's mostly hidden by the dunes. Walk a half block and there it all is! There's a market across the street for anything you forget. Only have two complaints. First the floors could use attention. Carpet needs to be vaccuumed under and around a few times a year. I tried doing yoga and looking under the bed/dresser wasn't pleasant. And we had to wear shoes as the floors weren't clean either. The rest of the place was almost spotless, just the floors. The other complaint is Vacasa's check in. We've stayed at lots of vacation rentals and never had to check in before 5 or call before 5 to pick up a packet at a different location. We flew all day and our flight was late so by the time we got to Sandbridge it was late. I hadn't even thought to check what we needed to do to get in. Called and got a really nice customer service rep who worked hard and long to get me to the maintenance man (York--very nice guy) who got us to the lockbox to pick up our packet. The lockbox had a code which hadn't been sent to me, either but York knew it. The codes in our packet for the outside gate and elevator didn't work so we called York back to help us get in. There should be a lockbox at the location of the rental (not 5 miles away) and the code for the lockbox should be texted or emailed on the day of arrival. Then there was this complicated sheet about how to set up our own code to enter the home. Why? Is that some sort of protection? We could just set up lots of codes if we wanted to break back in after our stay so not sure what that was about. Vacasa needs to change the code regardless so why all that? This process needs to be simpler and with a backup phone number to text or call if there are any problems. We were about to be some very ticked off, tired people had it not been for the nice rep and York. Also, we had to ask for the card to get into the gym which a nice rep delivered to our door 20 minutes later, but why? Can't that be included in the packet or inside the home? We never did find the gym. It wasn't on the map we were given. We asked a guy in the parking lot if he knew where it was and he said he couldn't find it either. For a business that does vacation rentals, I expected much better. ##### Tina G. From laundry pods to wash your favorite outfit to a full kitchen to bake homemade cookies. This condo is spacious with plenty of towels, blankets and a peaceful atmosphere. Lots of room to sit, sleep and eat, a jet tub to relax you feet. A balcony to get fresh air or enjoy the sound of the ocean waves. ##### Tiffany C. The rooms are very generous. My wife enjoyed the jetted tub (though there could have been more hot water :)). We went in October, so it wasn't really swimming weather, but the beach was very close and still a nice place to see and hear the waves. Overall, a very nice place to visit. ##### Robert L. The condo itself is in fantastic condition and is the cleanest beach rental I've stayed at. The cleanliness left something to be desired but it was very well stocked. I had expected to see the beach - but the view was mostly obscured by the sand dunes. We had a lot of difficulty checking in as we arrived on a Sunday. As well we were not aware we would need codes to get into the building - and it changed while we were there. Your communication left a lot to be desired. Still, due to the wonderful location, we may return next year. This is our second time staying at the Dunes and we love it! Can’t beat the location and our kids love that there are so many other families on-site because there are always other kids to play with. The Salty Mermaid was great! Very clean and well-stocked, comfortable furniture/mattresses, and a great view! One thing worth mentioning - this particular unit does not come stocked with beach supplies (cart, chairs, toys, etc.) so you’ll have to bring your own. We did find a key to a storage unit on the last day, but didn’t check to see if there was a matching closet. We ended up dragging the beach cart upstairs every day, which was fine, if a bit sandy. Overall a great stay, though it would be a major upgrade to include a beach cart and chairs with the unit. ##### Katie K.
