Visit for a few days or longer? Close to Alpe d’Huez, France. La Source chalet is owned and managed by Michael Baldwin – ski enthusiast, mountaineer, cyclist and hotelier. The chalet is a converted 220 year old traditional Oisans stone and wooden chalet south facing with panoramic views of the surrounding area. It has been renovated to an extremely high standard, keeping the charm and character of the building whilst creating modern facilities. A new extension was completed in 2009 to provide a further 2 modern and stylist bedrooms with Italian shower rooms. Within the extension on the lower ground floor is a modern professional kitchen and spacious storage areas. A large south facing decked area with an attached sauna compliments the interior of the chalet for sun lounging, Al fresco eating and general view gazing! There is plenty of parking close to the chalet and a free village navette bus will take you to the ski lifts - 300 metres away. During the summer months La Source is close to all the famous mountain passes, including the tour de France route up to Alpe d'Huez. We have a secure large cycle shed with plenty of tools and stands for cycle maintenance. La Source is available for self catering - up 18 beds available over 9 bedrooms, but we also offer B&B and demi - pension/ half board arrangements for smaller groups. Le choix de Villard-reculas a été parfait, avec ce grand chalet chez Michael, nous avons pu tous vivre d'excellents moments de ski pour grands et petits et de découvertes de ce très joli village accueillant. Chacun avait son espace, dont 4 jeunes adultes qui avaient adopté l’appartement du haut. Nombre de salles de bains hyper appréciable quand on est 18 ! Et ne parlons pas du sauna après le ski, un délice. Super cuisine pro aussi très appréciable avec tout le matériel imaginable (dont Super robot pour la pâtisserie), vaisselle très généreuse... La pièce à vivre est très bien meublée, chaleureuse et spacieuse, Michael avait même pensé au sapin ! Le village est vraiment charmant, loin du trafic et de l’agitation d’une grande station, mais les pistes Seulement à 5 minutes à pied pour rejoindre L’Alpe d’Huez. The living room space is super cosy and has direct access to the huge terasse with an astonishing view over the valley. The rooms are nice and tidy - some with access to own bathroom, others share bathrooms. Well-equipped kitchen; we decided to cook everything ourselves, but I am sure Michael can serve some nice food as well, if that option is chosen.
