((There is a fee for heating the pool of £100 ) and a Jacuzzi, situated within the village of Manta Rota, 12km from Tavira and 12km from Vila Real de Santo Antonio. Close to all amenities and only five minutes walk from the superb sandy beach. The villa is within a few minutes drive of five superb golf courses, including the new Jack Nicklaus,Monte Rei course. The villa has a unique Spanish style 'hacienda' courtyard at the front of the house, a lovely terraced garden of lawn and fruit trees, and a beautiful 8 by 4 metres outdoor heatable pool, and Jacuzzi. The house has additional terrace areas with views over the village and towards the sea, and is luxuriously furnished throughout its six bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, large living room , together with a large kitchen/dining room. There is also a covered games area with pool table and darts and a table tennis table. The owners live nearby and are on hand to assist in anything that you may require, from general information to recommendations of restaurants, and places to see and visit. The beautiful Ria Formosa!: The Ria Formosa in the Algarve is a beautiful labyrinth of lagoons separated from the sea by a coastal dune system which is broken up by various natural inlets. It is one of the most important nature reserves in the network of wetlands that links Europe and sub-Saharan Africa. It was comfortable for sitting, dining, sleeping and relaxing by the pool. It was extremely well resourced. The pool was perfect for adults and children who spent a lot of time in it! The aircon in the rooms was efficient and welcome. It was delightful to eat all our meals outside baring in mind we had messy children! The barbq was great also. The closeness (walking distance) to the lovely beach, cafe/bar and supermarket was a bonus. In fact the children loved the beach so much, we felt we didn’t need to explore any other beach. Trips out included a wonderful boat trip exploring the caves and a Slide and Splash water park. Communication with Andrew before and during our stay was excellent. With six children under 12, the youngest of whom was 16 months, we appreciated the “homeliness” of the villa and felt entirely relaxed. We had our family of 10 stay very comfortably & thoroughly enjoyed our week! It is charming and has plenty of room for all of us. Hosts were wonderful… responsive and helpful! The highlights were Old Times restaurant which is a short walk from the house, sea kayaking into the sea caves and a day spent in Sevilla Spain which is only an hour or so away! The heated pool saved our holiday due to the weather and everyone really enjoyed themselves. A rental car is a must as there is so much to see and do around the area. We stayed in early spring and the weather suited us perfectly, not too hot but warm enough to enjoy the outdoors. Glad we paid to have the pool heated at this time of year. Nice layout of villa for a mixed family group. We enjoyed playing pool, darts and table tennis. The local area was very quiet at this time of year which was lovely. This beautiful home is exactly as advertised! We stayed as a multi-generational family of 11 and had plenty of spaces and supplies for everyone. There were plenty of lounge chairs around the pool and the warm temperature of the pool was welcome in March. The beds were comfortable and the number of bathrooms amazing. We walked to the beach and boardwalk daily and ran on the beach. The supermarket, restaurants, butcher and bakery in the village were wonderful. I stayed at Casa Betel with 5 friends and the villa truly exceeded our expectations. Wonderfully spacious with lots of bathrooms and gorgeous garden and pool area. We particularly loved the heated pool and outdoor eating area. These were all cleaned and tidied on the Friday of our stay but it didn’t take long. We didn’t have a BBQ but maybe next time! We loved that the kitchen was well equipped too, although we thought if we were cooking for more people we may have struggled with the single oven. The dishwasher and washing machine were so handy. Location wise, it was quiet (but we were in off season). Other reviewers said beware of the cockerels but they didn’t bother me and the sheep were cute. Loved Santa Rota itself. Not at all built up or too touristy. A few nice shops and restaurants (I’m sure more open in high season). The beach, sand dunes and boardwalk were all glorious. Casa Betel was a dream to stay at. We were 8 family members staying for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year's. The house exceeded our hopes and was wonderful for us. It is very spacious and well laid out, and has everything you could possibly need. Extremely well supplied, comfortable and homelike. We enjoyed outdoor time in the garden with the pool and mandarin tree, made freshly squeezed orange juice with fruit from the tree, wonderful meals at the spacious dining table and the beds were comfy and bathrooms modern. All was super clean. Andrew and Elsie were incredibly responsive and helpful. they even delivered a turkey to us, ordered from a local butcher. The village was so charming, with a local grocery store, cafes and restaurants all within a block or two's walk. The village is well located and close to many places. We drove to Seville for a day, only a l.5 hour's drive. The beach is spectacular and a five minute walk. Christmas Eve sunset at the beach is a memory we will not soon forget. We highly recommend this house and hope to be back. ##### Alison L. Andrew and Else were great hosts. We went in late April so the evenings were cool and it was quite windy, but got plenty of sunshine during our five days in Manta Rota (one of them during the Portugal blackout, which was certainly memorable!).Manta Rota is a small sleepy village, though. Not much happening at this time of the year. But it’s a great place to base yourself if you plan to rent a car and have road trips planned. We enjoyed crossing the border into Spain to visit Ayamonte (20 min drive), and driving into Albufeira and surrounding villages to visit the coastline caves and hanging valleys (45 min). The 30 min drive to Tavira was also a highlight. So beautiful. We recommend the 7 Hanging Valleys Hiking Tour, which took 4 hours but was a highlight and a better option than taking a boat tour and risking sea sickness, as the waves were big and it was very windy.One point I would make about the villa is that the main level bedrooms get humid and damp and after a few days the bedding becomes a bit musty and uncomfortably damp. Using the in-room air conditioning more would probably have helped. The rooms, as a result, also start to smell musty and the towels never fully dry. Also, the mattress cover in the bedroom closest to the kitchen was just a sheet and it was too small for the bed, so was always getting bunched up and leaving the (dirty) mattress exposed. An easy fix, so just an FYI. ##### Tyler H. There was plenty of room for our group of 12 (3 families of 4). The air con and pool kept us cool in the heat and we loved the outdoor kitchen/eating area and the garden is very private and not overlooked. The property owners/management were responsive when we had any queries - the only issues we had were a power outage (which we understand also affected other properties in the local area) and getting to grips with the alarm system (user error!). It’s well situated - a short walk to the beach, bars, restaurants & shops. Would definitely recommend! ##### Amy B.
