Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Vieux-Habitants?
The best areas to stay in Vieux-Habitants are along the coast, particularly around the town centre and further south towards the Plage de Simaho.

The town centre of Vieux-Habitants itself is a good base for those who appreciate local life and easy access to amenities. You'll find a few local shops, restaurants, and the historic Church of Our Lady of the Assumption. The area is relatively compact, making it easy to walk around and get a feel for the local culture.

Couples looking for a peaceful escape will likely enjoy staying near Plage de Simaho. This area offers a more secluded experience, with accommodation often providing direct beach access or stunning sea views. It's a fantastic spot for relaxing by the water, swimming, or simply enjoying the natural beauty of the coastline.
When is the best time to go to Vieux-Habitants?
The best time to go to Vieux-Habitants is during the dry season, which runs from December to May, offering warm temperatures and less rainfall.

This period is ideal for those looking to enjoy the outdoor activities without the interruption of heavy showers. You'll find the weather consistently pleasant for exploring the coffee plantations and beaches.

Families often find the Christmas and New Year period particularly good, as the weather is stable, and there's a festive atmosphere. However, it's also the busiest time, so booking accommodation and flights well in advance is advisable.

For couples seeking a quieter escape, travelling in April or May is excellent. The peak season crowds have thinned out, but the weather remains lovely, great for relaxed days by the sea or exploring the botanical gardens.
