"This is a historic hotel located close to the waterfront. Staying here itself is an experience, not for amenities but for its historical significance. The staff are not very friendly, probably they are unionized as it could happen at major landmarks like this, ignore it and enjoy the stay. Highly recommend if you are slightly interested in the US history and heritage."

"The friendliness of the staff member who checked us in was commendable. He even volunteered to assist us with our luggage as we had an upstairs room. Little touches like fresh cookies and a candy bowl on the counter were nice. The beds were comfortable and it is also a very pretty location."

"Ours was a one-night stay to access the Avenue of the Giants. The location was good for that. The kitchen was well-equipped. The property was secure, behind a gate. I liked having an extra half-bath and laundry onsite.However, I don't think I would stay again due to one bed that squeaked badly, no air conditioning (it was quite warm upstairs, and opening the windows brought in constant traffic noise on Highway 101 below; I resorted to the provided electric fan, which only helped a bit), and the upstairs bath with a difficult-to-access bath/shower combo (narrow and high) and no adequate surface to put toiletries. I expected more at this price point."
