Nor will you know that, when you phone the hotel, they will sigh in exasperation that you cannot speak German and that they will be pretty rude to you. Add to the above that it took 45 minutes to check us in to a pre-booked reservation and the room service called at 8am and...

"A lovely hotel in a fantastic location. The reception staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the gym and pool. My only negative was the habit that many Slovakian hotels have of using single beds and placing them together (while still made up as single beds) and claiming this to be a double or king bed. Thankfully the reception staff provided me with sheets to convert my singles to a double (sort of)"
