With a summit at 1911m above sea level it also offers an epic challenge to any cyclist. There are three routes to the top: from Bedoin, from Sault or from Malaucene. The famous 'moonscape' opens out approximately 6km from the summit, the wind and lack of protection making for some tough riding conditions . Although a summit selfie is obligatory after such an epic achievement, this view gives a distinct sense of how far you've come. Stop near the beginning at the view points to see this amazing view down the valley with the road curving its way along the edge. Once you have started down the road, there won't be any places to stop as the road is narrow, steep and full of sharp corners.
