Hôtel Pyrène

10/10 Excellent

"The hotel was very good and I enjoyed my stay. The only drawback is that it's about 2km from the town centre and at least part of the walk is along a very busy main road, so a car is desirable."

Charming gite for 06 to 15 people with private pool

10/10 Excellent

"Samuel the host met us and showed us around the property explaining all we needed to know. The property had air con in every room which was such a benefit in the very hot weather we had.The property overall was very good the garden a bit uneven under foot so could cause problems for someone unsteady walking. The kitchen in particular was fantastic and enough crockery and utensils to accomadate 20- 30 people if not more .The beds were all comfortable and with a family of 10 from 64 down to 2 we all slept well. Would definitely recommend this property for a rural holiday. Great cycling/ hiking track on your doorstep and shops within 5 min drive or supermarkets 15- 20 mins away"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Vals?

The best area to stay in Vals is generally within the village itself or in the immediately surrounding countryside, depending on your preference for convenience or tranquility. For visitors who value being close to amenities and the village's main attractions, staying directly in Vals is ideal. The village is compact, and its heart is around the historic church and the main square. You'll find local shops, restaurants, and the entrance to the famous cave church within easy walking distance. This central location offers convenience for exploring the village on foot.Couples looking for a peaceful retreat with easy access to nature often find the accommodations just outside the village, in the surrounding countryside, to be a superb fit. These often include guesthouses or small hotels located amongst the rolling hills and vineyards. You'll enjoy quiet evenings and scenic views, while still being only a short drive or a pleasant walk from Vals' centre.

When is the best time to go to Vals?

The best time to go to Vals is during the shoulder seasons, specifically late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to early October).During these periods, the weather is pleasantly mild, superb for exploring the natural beauty of the region without the intense heat of summer. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer months, allowing for a more peaceful experience at attractions like the Grotte de la Madeleine and the charming villages.Couples looking for a romantic getaway will particularly appreciate the quieter atmosphere and comfortable temperatures, ideal for scenic drives through the Ardèche Gorges or enjoying a glass of local wine on a terrace. The vibrant colours of spring blossoms or autumn foliage add to the picturesque scenery.Families with younger children might also find these times more agreeable, as the weather is suitable for outdoor activities like gentle walks or exploring local markets without the discomfort of scorching summer days. The reduced number of tourists makes navigating popular spots much easier. While July and August offer the warmest weather for swimming in the rivers, they also bring the largest crowds and higher prices.
