House fit our group perfectly! It was clean, beds comfy and shampoo, conditioner and soap in all the bathrooms was a nice touch! Loved the fireplace. Cozy. Never needed to get into our cars the whole time. Not a bad walk to the lodge from the house.
We had a great time on our long weekend family getaway. The place was very clean and was a wonderful setting to play games and have family meals. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much snow this season so we didn’t get to take advantage of all the winter activities. However, the staff at the restaurant in the bar was wonderful. The pool and the hot tub provided great entertainment for the kids. Overall was a wonderful experience. And the host was very easy to communicate with and accommodating!
The house was perfect for our group of seven (our older kids and their friends). Plenty of space, each group had their own bathroom, functional kitchen. There’s a large entry way/mud room with benches and hooks and cubbies for ski gear. The fireplace and sauna were both nice to have in the evenings. Only caveat is that the main lift is currently down, so it’s ski in, but not ski out (same for everywhere else you can stay). It’s a quick walk to the hotel or rental shop for the shuttle
Hidden Gem! Closest thing to Colorado in Wisconsin We had an absolute blast at Whitecap Mountain! The skiing conditions were amazing. The powder and runs were truly unparalleled for the Wisconsin region. It felt as close to a Colorado ski trip as you can get in the Midwest and it was a very manageable drive from our home. The best part was the lack of lines so we were able to crush 50 runs a day without waiting. The property itself was fantastic and offered true ski-in/ski-out convenience (we literally skied right back to the door at night). Having a sauna to relax in after a hard day on the slopes was a game-changer. We also spent time at the lodge restaurant where the staff was super friendly, and the wings, pizza, and drinks were fantastic. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a serious ski trip!
Jen and Ray were very accommodating hosts! Jen was very responsive and helpful. Their home was the perfect location for our group. Lots of room and the fireplace and sauna were delightful. We will be back again! Thanks Jen and Ray for sharing your home with us!
We planned a last minute ski trip over our spring break. The location can't be beat for ski in and ski out at Whitecap. The chalet was perfect for our family of 6 and everyone had their own bed. Both, the wood burning fireplace and sauna, were an added bonus after a full day of skiing. The kitchen was easy to cook in. The chalet has an overall comfortable feeling to it. Jen was very accommodating with our early arrival and late check out. We would definitely book this property again. Thanks!
We had a fantastic long weekend of skiing! Whitecap is our new favorite terrain in the Midwest. Great property in a great location. We had 2 families (4 adults, 3 t/weens) and the layout of this chalet worked really well. Open concept allowed us to hang out together for meals, watching TV, playing games, etc. The 3 bedroom / 2 bathrooms were comfortable for sleeping and getting ready. The sauna was a nice amenity after a day on the slopes. We also used the Whitecap Resort pool - hot tub for $5 / person. Hosts had excellent communication and were super accommodating.
Our host was a great communicator. We loved that that kitchen was stocked with utensils, appliances, soaps, dishcloths, towels, and dishware we needed to cook our weekend's meals. We loved the sauna in the unit and the equipment room with benches and cubbies for storing our ski boots and ski clothing! It is so wonderful to stay at a ski in and ski out location on the Whitecap ski resort. Even more wonderful to stay with our kids at the same lodge where my family made ski trip memories in the 1980s. We love Whitecap!
Three couples in our late 30s/early 40s stayed here for a ski trip in February. Being slopeside was fantastic, especially with our group being of mixed ski abilities. It was great for everyone to be able to head out/come back on their own time and not have to drive.
Ski in/out was almost perfection! Only a few steps to get from the bottom of the stairs to the hill and then a shallow slope down to the lift. Getting back is easy for all but the most beginner of skiers.
The sauna is small but soooo great after a long day of skiing! The kitchen is small but was enough for us to prepare all our meals. The open lower level has beautiful views and enough seating for us all to eat meals and play games together.
Our cars had some trouble getting up the hill to park so be prepared for that. (Not a negative of this property, just an FYI for “up north” driving.)
The not so great: We were disappointed to find out that there was only a “starter amount” of toilet paper. We were 6 adults staying for 5 nights and I’ve never had to bring or buy TP to a vacation rental so maybe throw some in your car if you’re a larger group. We didn’t want to have to drive anywhere once we arrived but we needed to do that. Also we had to get dishwasher detergent. It is an older property, but we appreciated the vintage vibes. The outside stairs got pretty snow packed and sometimes slippery, but again- you’re up north in snow country.
Still giving it 5 stars for the value and fun. We had a great trip and would stay again! I appreciate knowing potential “hiccups” before I get to a VRBO but this seems to be a newer rental so I hope this helps some folks. Looking forward to our next Whitecap trip!
My Family and I stayed for a four day ski trip. The owners, Jen and Ray were great to work with, We found everything as described including extra wood for the fire place.
The house was very clean and well stocked with all the basic supplies. We plan to stay again and would recommend.
