We were two Australian friends, first time in Cornwall and the cottage was perfect with lovely views, a deck to sit outside on and cosy/traditional inside which we loved. The host was super friendly and gave clear instructions and help all the way through, with tips for us of things to do that really suited us. They even had scones with jam and cream for us when we arrived, which was such a nice touch. Overall we loved our stay and it was hard to leave! The location is perfect with fabulous views of the river estuary. The local pub is a matter of metres away and is well worth visiting. Excellent food and very friendly staff. ##### Alison H. Views, walks, kayaking from jetty, boat trip to Falmouth. Oh and more views ! Cottage brilliantly designed and executed. Gardens superb. Information top notch. Very comfortable (would prefer a bigger bed). Dog had a wonderful week too. Thank you. ##### Michael S. The management is efficient and personal. We had a wonderful few days. The only slight criticism is that the dining table could not be moved from the little kitchen to the living room. We had a couple visit us for dinner and it was too cold to eat outside (from which the views are stunning) This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent 16 Nov 2023 #### A very comfortable short break Myself and my best friend stayed here for a long weekend break. It was my present to her for her 60th birthday, We just wanted to chill & chat really. We popped to the pub three doors away for food and refreshments of course, but apart from that we sat in comfort in front of the lovely log burner and chatted and laughed. We had so much catching up to do. The view was spectacular and the facilities in the cottage were excellent. Plenty of lovely walks to do in the area if you like that sort of thing but for what we wanted, comfort and warmth, this cottage was perfect. Phil is a very helpful and friendly host. He provided some lovely Cornish treats for us which were very much enjoyed. Another special memory now we created of our time at Fal River Cottage, This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### Emma R. 1 Jun 2024 #### Beautiful views of the river The cottage is in the most beautiful position where the rivers meet. The tiered patios behind the cottage are wonderful and very comfortable seating made for a lovely evening with a glass of wine and watching river life. The bedrooms and beds are comfortable but we struggled being in a double bed on a warm evening, we are just used to a bigger bed. The kitchen is beautifully done, a couple of ovenware dishes would have been useful, but we managed none the less. We had a couple of evenings watching TV but we personally found the new chair and sofa very uncomfortable (different to the photos) which was a shame.Huge range of games and books, the fabulous Heron Inn on your doorstep and a trip down the river to Falmouth completed our stay. Phil was very attentive and couldn’t fault the service he gave and even arranged to send a Teddy that got left behind! Thank you for the delicious cream tea, it started the week off beautifully. ##### Emma R. The cottage was very nice and in the best position! Very dog friendly everywhere and an enjoyable walk into Truro. Lots of time spent at The Heron! The cottage provided a great base and was really nicely decorated. Just a couple of things that may have made it even better - we found the bed a little small, probably because we’re used to a much bigger one, but the room is so spacious it could definitely take a bigger bed. A DVD player might be good, we didn’t spend much time looking at the TV but had taken some DVD’s to have a couple of nights in (to keep costs down) and there really wasn’t anything on TV. I think it would also be useful to have the information the owner provided about the cottage and surrounding area on a laminated sheet in the cottage, it’s a bit of a pain to try and read it on a small mobile screen. Lastly PARKING ! Not fun driving up and down trying to find somewhere to dump the car, especially when it’s a big wide one like ours. I understand there’s nothing that can be done about this but you need to be fully aware of how difficult and stressful it can be. We were lucky and made friends with a local who very kindly offered us a parking spot on their driveway at the top of the village. All in all we had a very enjoyable holiday in a beautiful area ##### Debbie Brown This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Andrea B. 24 May 2025 #### A little slice of heaven A beautiful little cottage in a magical location. We were sad to leave after a 3 night stay but we hope we may return for a little longer next time. ##### Andrea B. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent 3 Jul 2023 #### Truly spectacular location Beautifully well presented cottage in a stunning location , Owner was very helpful throughout and we could not have asked for for. Parking outside was great for us , but I guess it could be a challenge at the height of summer with the Heron 3 doors away. Location was perfect for exploring south west Cornwall with many local walks if you don’t want to travel. The steps up to the Cottage are steep for those less able ( the Owner does point this out in the Cottage information ) but apart from that , perfection !! This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent 23 Jul 2022 #### Lovely cottage, great location. We had a really enjoyable stay at the cottage, helped by the fantastic weather. It’s a great location and the Heron pub 2 doors away was so convenient. There is always interest in the view across the river with the varied bird life and boats coming and going. The walk to St Clements is lovely, either along the river bank or through the fields over the hill. The cottage was very clean and well appointed. However, it would benefit from a freezer compartment in the fridge as unable to have any ice for cold drinks. Parking is on-road which is always busy but we were able to park each time we returned so not an issue. The terrace areas to the rear were great places to relax and admire the view as is the front decking where you can soak in the atmosphere of the pub customers enjoying their time on the roadside seating area. I would recommend this cottage if you are looking for chilled get away. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Alex H., London 3 Jul 2022 #### Lovely cottage in fantastic riverside location Small cottage with modern facilities overlooking the tidal River Fal. Spotlessly clean and very conveniently located 3 doors down from the Heron pub which does great food. We felt very relaxed admiring the views and enjoyed sitting out front watching the boats and herons. Malpas is a popular location, with limited parking. You need to time your arrival for quieter periods to get close to the cottage. The owners were great to deal with. ##### Alex H. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Paul H. 1 Jun 2022 #### Perfect little cottage You can’t fail to be disappointed with this perfect little cottage, beautifully presented and equipped. The views are amazing, close enough to Truro for any shopping and in an excellent position for exploring Cornwall. Heron Pub to be recommended, thought parking may be an issue but we managed to park right outside the cottage every day. Phil was so helpful with information before our stay and the arrival goodies were a lovely surprise. ##### Paul H. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Debbie R., British 28 May 2022 #### Great cottage fantastic location Great short break unfortunately the weather wasn’t too kind. Great views from all the terraces. Phil the host was great and helpful. The pub a few doors down was fantastic good menu and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend this cottage for a couple or small family. Our dog loved it too. ##### Debbie R. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent 10 May 2022 #### Highly recommend We felt at home from the minute we arrived! The cottage was clean, cosy, comfortable, well equipped and perfectly situated for exploring the many nearby attractions! The amenities provided by Fal Cottage make it almost unnecessary to go anywhere! The decks behind the cottage give uninterrupted views and excellent privacy. We will definitely be back! ## Expedia's Latest Trends ### Hotels > [The Coppid Beech Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Bracknell-Hotels-The-Coppid-Beech-Hotel.h3809.Hotel-Information) > > [Carden Park](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Chester-Hotels-Carden-Park.h190780.Hotel-Information) > > [Hampton by Hilton London Gatwick Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Gatwick-Hotels-Hampton-By-Hilton-London-Gatwick-Airport.h7234788.Hotel-Information) > > [Hampton by Hilton London Stansted Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Stansted-Hotels-Hampton-By-Hilton-London-Stansted-Airport.h18464320.Hotel-Information) > > [Stratford Manor Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Stratford-Upon-Avon-Hotels-Stratford-Manor.h27936.Hotel-Information) > > [Ashford International Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Ashford-Hotels-Ashford-International-Hotel.h527123.Hotel-Information) > > [Retallack Resort](https://www.expedia.co.uk/St-Columb-Major-Hotels-Retallack-Resort.h4537229.Hotel-Information) > > [Bloc Hotel London Gatwick Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Gatwick-Hotels-Bloc-Hotel-London-Gatwick-Airport.h6594190.Hotel-Information) > > [Sand Bay Holiday Village](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Weston-Super-Mare-Hotels-Sand-Bay-Holiday-Village.h11443695.Hotel-Information) > > [St Michael's Resort](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Falmouth-Hotels-St-Michaels-Resort.h2951426.Hotel-Information) > > [Crowne Plaza Stratford Upon Avon by IHG](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Stratford-Upon-Avon-Hotels-Crowne-Plaza-Stratford-Upon-Avon.h11307.Hotel-Information) > > [Hilton London Gatwick Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Gatwick-Hotels-Hilton-London-Gatwick-Airport.h20753.Hotel-Information) > > [Norbreck Castle Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Blackpool-Hotels-Norbreck-Castle-Hotel.h6377.Hotel-Information) > > [Eastwell Manor, Champneys Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Ashford-Hotels-Eastwell-Manor.h905662.Hotel-Information) > > [Camelot Castle Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Tintagel-Hotels-Camelot-Castle-Hotel.h8083111.Hotel-Information) > > [Hollins Hall Hotel, Golf & Country Club](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Shipley-Hotels-Hollins-Hall-Hotel.h63744.Hotel-Information) > > [Chesford Grange Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Kenilworth-Hotels-Chesford-Grange.h920291.Hotel-Information) > > [Grand Burstin Hotel Folkestone](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Folkestone-Hotels-Grand-Burstin-Hotel-Folkestone.h1201483.Hotel-Information) > > [The Mill Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Chester-Hotels-The-Mill-Hotel-Spa.h1695656.Hotel-Information) > > [Village Hotel Manchester Ashton](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Ashton-Under-Lyne-Hotels-Village-Hotel-Manchester-Ashton.h1848975.Hotel-Information) > > [The Winchester Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Winchester-Hotels-The-Winchester-Hotel-Spa.h26080.Hotel-Information) > > [Hilton at St George's Park, Burton Upon Trent](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Burton-On-Trent-Hotels-Hilton-At-St-Georges-Park.h5094740.Hotel-Information) > > [Radisson Blu Hotel Manchester, Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Manchester-Hotels-Radisson-Blu-Hotel-Manchester.h120016.Hotel-Information) > > [The Spa Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Royal-Tunbridge-Wells-Hotels-The-Spa-Hotel.h8849.Hotel-Information) > > [Hythe Imperial Hotel Spa & Golf](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hythe-Hotels-Hythe-Imperial-Hotel-Spa-Golf.h9108.Hotel-Information) > > [The Rutland Arms Hotel, Bakewell, Derbyshire](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Bakewell-Hotels-The-Rutland-Arms-Hotel.h792056.Hotel-Information) > > [Harbour Beach Club & Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Salcombe-Hotels-Harbour-Beach-Club-Hotel-Spa.h2261933.Hotel-Information) > > [Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa - Adults Only](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Newquay-Hotels-Fistral-Beach-Hotel-And-Spa-Adults-Only.h1895493.Hotel-Information) > > [Worcester Whitehouse](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Worcester-Hotels-Worcester-Whitehouse.h18498.Hotel-Information) > > [Cotswolds Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Chipping-Norton-Hotels-Cotswolds-Hotel-Spa.h13106835.Hotel-Information)
