Private luxury custom Lodge with the best view of Lake Shasta and Shasta Caverns
10/10 Excellent
"It's a beautiful house with a spectacular view. We were 3 aunties and 2 nieces and were easily accommodated in the 4 bedrooms, which have multiple beds. We like to cook together and were grateful that the kitchen is well-appointed, with drawers full of utensils (the dishwasher is the quietest I've ever known). The temperature was in the 100s when we were there, but the house is comfortably air conditioned, and it was possible to sit on the wrap-around deck in the early morning, drinking coffee and gazing at the lake. We ate dinner out there most evenings, too. We took advantage of the house's proximity to Holiday Harbor to rent a boat for the afternoon and enjoy the lake. Lorinne, our host, was very responsive to our questions both before and during our stay. It was a perfect vacation for us and we can't recommend the house highly enough."
"We stayed in the treehouse cabin with our toddler and had a wonderful time. He loved playing in the giant jacuzzi bathtub! The room was spacious and well furnished with a king sized bed and a queen sized pull out couch bed. The view was lovely, though admittedly I believe it would have been more so in the winter time.
We experienced an issue with the toilet in the room immediately after checking in and the staff was wonderful. It was a total one off, nothing they could have predicted and they were so great throughout the whole issue, communicating frequently and working with us to ensure we found a solution that worked for everyone.
It was incredibly hot during our stay but the room A/C kept the whole cabin cool and was whisper quiet.
It was a nice treat to have breakfast brought to your room each morning, though our family was not a fan of some of the dishes.
Things to know about the stay: when they say there are no services, there are no services. You pretty much have to make the trek to Redding if you need anything. Also, this particular room, the treehouse cabin, is on stilts. This is way cool, and lends so much privacy to the room. It does, however, mean the room sways a bit, which may bother some guests. We were not bothered by it at all.
Wonderful staff, lovely view, clean spacious room. All and all an excellent stay."
Lovely mountain home w/ large deck and forest view
8/10 Good
"We stayed at this property for a week and overall enjoyed our stay. The home was clean, quiet, easy to access, and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the mountain views, seeing the lights from I-5 in the distance at night, and especially hearing the train whistle from afar. However, several aspects did not match the listing. The deck photos appear outdated, as the deck no longer looks like the pictures shown online. Several boards were lifting, there were a few holes, and guests should use caution when walking barefoot. The two white outdoor chairs were weathered, warped, and unstable due to stripped screws. The hammock shown in the photos was also not present. There was a newer round fire table on the deck, which made a nice gathering spot for meals and card games. The listing advertises air conditioning, but it is actually a swamp cooler. During our stay, the house became quite warm at night, even with the three portable fans provided. While the listing mentions room for boats, RVs, and other toys, much of the property is sloped. The final mile of road is steep, winding, and partially unpaved, which could make maneuvering larger trailers challenging.Overall, we enjoyed the peaceful setting, comfortable accommodations, and beautiful views, but feel the listing photos and description should be updated to better reflect the property's current condition and amenities."
Epic Lake Cabin • Pool • Hot Tub • Fire Pit • Game Room
10/10 Excellent
"This property was eveything we thought it would be and more. Quiet and somewhat isolated yet close to town and Redding. Everyday we used the pool and it brought so much joy. The sitting areas outside are great, no skimping there, we used the bbq and it was great. The log cabin feel was something you can't find much of these days. The getting there was easy peasy. The place was so clean and well stocked, the spices were plentiful. Having a refrig that dispensed cold water was great for the kids. Games galore, DVD's for miles. The game room did not disappoint. Nothing was disappointing at this wonderful spot. It is a do-over for us next year."
