Beautiful respite near the sea
Fabulous private location just across the road from a secluded beach. Comfortable and clean with nice furnishings. Gorgeous property! The sound of the nearby creek and ocean is so relaxing! Just south of the town of Trinidad with easy access to the 101 as well to explore the redwoods.

Spectacular
This is the second time we have stayed at this lovely cottage, super comfortable and clean! The hosts are very friendly but completely respect your privacy. Lucy their dog is super sweet, she just can't resist welcoming you! It is so quite and relaxing. The little secret garden is spectacular, a wonderful place for a private picnic or quite reading. We will visit again!

Slice of heaven
This sweet cottage above a garage is very quaint and private. You are free to roam the owners’ incredible gardens and sit in comfy chairs on a rock patio nearby soaking up the ocean view. The nearby creek and ocean waves hide any noises (not that there were any) and lull you to sleep. Across from a crescent moon shaped beach and close to a scenic bluff (walking distance), this is the perfect escape from the busy and noisy city life. Owners are deeply kind and have great recommendations. Trinidad is super quaint and there are parks and trails, including the Redwoods, nearby. Accommodations very comfy and quiet with a nice kitchen and bathroom. Can’t wait to return!

What a beautiful location. Nestled in the woods, a short walk from Luffenholtz Beach, which is very special. Incredibly quiet and private. It was a joy to stay there.

The Perfect Getaway
My husband and I love the redwoods and the Northern Coast, so we decided to stay in Trinidad. By luck we landed at The Seaside Cottage and were able to bask in both while staying cozy & comfortable in this sweet studio.

Extraordinary experience
This little cottage is private, quiet and extremely comfortable. The property is absolutely beautiful overlooking the ocean, several secluded areas with tables and chairs to picnic, read or just enjoy the view. Tom is most pleasant, friendly and always available to answer any questions! This little place is quite a treasure! We will definitely visit again!

This is a quiet, lovely property located across the beach! It’s a beautiful little getaway and close to Trinidad Harbor. There is a casino a mile down the road but you would never know that! Lots of beaches to hike!

Sanctuary by the sea
This cottage is beautifully arranged, quiet , comfortable and you can hear the ocean ! The hosts encouraged us to walk their gardens ,enjoy their ocean view and walk 5 minutes to Luffenholz beach. Enjoyed exploring the area beaches , redwoods and the town of Trinidad provided all we needed. Wish we stayed longer!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Tom is very friendly & was nearby for any questions or if we’d had any issues, yet the rental was secluded/private. We loved the beautiful gardens on the property & the fact that the ocean is directly across the street, with steps down to the beach (although very steep!). We love the Trinidad area & hope to return.

The cottage was charming and had all the amenities we needed. Great location for exploring the southern end of Redwood National-State parks, area beaches, and Trinidad. Owners were gracious in sharing their beautiful gardens to enjoy with beautiful ocean views. Cottage is quiet, comfortable, and clean.

Enjoyed seeing all the trees outside the large windows and skylight. Didn't get much time to talk to owners but had a quick friendly chat when we left. Space is clean and cute. Nice to see Tom's artwork of butterflies! Comfortable bed.

Gorgeous and tranquil
Almost afraid to say how wonderful this property is for fear of letting the secret out. Hosts are warm and friendly. Their property has a beautiful, extensive garden with a mulch path worth meandering along to enjoy the variety of flowers and bubbling stream that runs along one side of the property. (I wish this site had a way to post photos with the review.) The cottage is surrounding by greenery. There’s a great spot in the garden with a stunning ocean view. You can hear the ocean waves. The path down to Luffenholtz Beach is just steps away. Walking/hiking the nearby Trinidad Head Trail is a must! Can’t say enough how peaceful and beautiful this special place is. Thank you, Tom and Tom, for a fantastic stay!

Clean and great location—good for early risers
The cottage was very clean and was in a great location. The gardens around the cottage and house were beautiful and there is a stream running by that runs out into the ocean. Beautiful sounds to fall asleep to. Easy access to Trinidad and the Redwood Parks. The beach across the street had some of the best tide pooling I have ever experienced and was well worth a morning. Two disclosures should be made on the listing—1) There is a very large skylight above the bed and no window curtains—so you will be waking up with thee sun 2) Whether you come from the North or South, parts of Scenic drive that you must go on to get to the cottage are gravel. We came in the summer when it was dry in a very low clearance car and made it in okay, but we had to go very slow for the gravel parts (about .5-1 mile ish).

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful property. It was clean, close to town, Tom and Tom were very nice and invited us to enjoy their gardens which were incredible. We had our morning coffee on the balcony looking into the trees listening to the birds sing every day. We loved their sweet little dog too. We will be back!!! This was a perfect get away!

The property is stunning with an absolutely gorgeous garden landscape. Close to a fern filled creek and across the road from the beach. My partner and I were excited to return to the cozy space at the end of our day activities. Great middle spot between Eureka and the Redwood National/State parks. We also enjoyed just taking in all the green from the well lit windows and taking so well needed rest. Highly recommended spot for a relaxed and or adventurous weekend.

The husband and I spent four glorious nights at Tom's place- such a beautiful apartment and location. The apartment kitchen was nicely stocked and the living quarters were so comfortable. We loved being able to walk across the street and down to the amazing beach. This is truly a magical spot and we really enjoyed the town of Trinidad. We hiked in several locations and this place was in a great location close to everything. I hope someday to return and can't thank the hosts enough for sharing this fantastic place!!

I stayed here for my nieces graduation from Cal poly Humbolt. It was the perfect location with lots of privacy. The house was very clean and super cozy. The property itself is dropdead gorgeous. I wish I could have explored the area a little bit more because there was a beach directly across the street. Next time for sure! I would highly recommend staying here. With that said, the road is not for the faint of heart. It is right on the cliff to the ocean but I found it very easy to get in and out of.

Lovely, quiet beach cottage
We had a wonderful stay at Tom and Tom's adorable cottage. It is located on their beautifully landscaped, lush property, upstairs from their detached garage. We had great communication early on, right when we booked all the way up to the hour we left. We were sorry not to have met them but now we understand why they call that part of California home. Its heavenly! The space was larger than the pictures showed, immaculately clean, had abundant natural light, with an outside deck which was surrounded by a variety of native greenery, from which the ocean's crashing waves can be heard. There were even a few Hummingbirds zooming around. The bathroom shower/bathtub etc. and kitchen/stove/refrigerator etc., were perfect for the two of us and the queen-sized bed very comfortable. The space is adorned with Tom' M.'s expertly drawn artwork, they even gifted us with a beautiful card with one of his butterfly pieces upon our arrival. And delish chocolate bars! But the best part was Luffenholz Beach, it's right across the street! It will require walking down some steep-ish stairs (and then back up) but the pay off is so worth it. Pack a backpack, put on your favorite Teva's and stay awhile. The beach stretches a long way, begging you to explore the tidal pools and the nooks and crannies of many large rocks. We saw pink starfish, little fish, crabs and more. The powerful waves crashing against the enormous stacks, the sea birds, the sounds of the teeny shells in the surf, the smell of the salty ocean air, the picturesque fog banks...just stunningly beautiful. Coming from 95° + weather at home, the cooler, air was a very refreshing relief. It was in the 60s everyday, mostly cloudy with bits of sun here and there, perfect for our beach picnics and hikes on the nature trails nearby. The water felt freezing cold so no swimming but we didnt miss it, there was so much beauty everywhere. We drove up the road a bit to see more of the gorgeous shoreline and came upon a huge herd of sealions and harbor seals, barking loudly as they basked in the sun on the big rocks. So cool! There are many naturally beautiful places to visit throughout the Trinidad area and delicious little local eateries too, but coming home to Tom and Tom's sweet cottage was such a nice way to end our days of exploration. We already miss the northern California coast and will definitely return one day. We hope we will once again be able to stay at this quiet little beach gem. Thank you Tom and Tom!

A lovely retreat
The cottage was perfect for our stay. The property's gardens were beautiful and lush, a joy to walk through. We used the cottage as our base of operation for hiking the Redwoods Parks, and it worked very well. It was lovely to come back after a day of hiking and relax with a glass of wine in the Adirondack chairs overlooking the cove (some days the fog hadn't rolled in and we could even SEE the cove!) There is a full kitchen, but there are no oils or spices (other than salt and pepper) on hand. The room was bright and cheery even on foggy days. The owners' pup was very friendly. If we were in the area again, we'd definitely rebook.

This is a lovely studio apartment in a quiet corner near Trinidad. The kitchen is great, heater great, bathroom great, it's clean and spacious and bright (very important in the Humboldt fog!), comfortable chairs, a little balcony, a nice 2-person table, a wonderfully comfortable bed, we slept like logs. You can walk down to Luffenholz Beach to walk and fossick about in tidepools. We actually never had face-to-face communication with Tom & Tom, but the reservation, payment, communication, and access process from beginning to end was smooth and timely.

Quiet, peaceful ocean getaway
This little gem was so much more than what is advertised. Very quiet, super close to the ocean, Tom and Tom are very accomodating and responsive. Loft is very cozy and the balcony facing the woods feels like you're nestled away far away from civilization. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with brilliant hydrangeas. The night sky was amazing and you can see so many stars since there is little light pollution. We would definitely like to come back!

Amazing find on the Trinidad coast
Tom and Tom’s property is a total find. The photos don’t do justice: it’s large, sunny, extremely beautifully landscaped, and steps from a staircase to the ocean. They could not be nicer and allow you to walk the many little paths through their gardens. The room is a studio-style apartment separate from their house, and is the perfect balance of accessibility and privacy. A superb weekend getaway for a couple.

Wonderful retreat from the mayhem!
Wonderful and responsive. They bent over backwards to get us to the cottage and accommodate our requests. COVID had all but dashed our hopes of getting away, but Tom and Tom held our reservation until the all clear was given. We were so happy! Cottage and gardens are beautiful and spectacularly situated. We ventured all over the north coast and redwoods on our holiday... loved returning every day to the amazing beach at the end of the driveway for a spectacular sunset. Excellent hosts. Highly recommend!
