An impressive looking building in an ideal location, situated not far from the waterfront with friendly staff to greet us. However, that's where the advantages ended. We were given the key to a very tired looking room, with loose and ripped wallpaper, the whole room required some much needed tlc. The mattress was uncomfortable and the shower screen in the bathroom needed maintenance. We had no hot water for the length our stay and by the following morning we had no water from the hot tap at all, which was also loose. As we were checking out there was clearly a plumbing issue as buckets and towels were placed in several places on the ground floor. The staff were clearly busy and unavailable for me to comment about our experience at The Grovsener, had we been staying for more than one night I would of insisted of being moved to another room. We are regular visitors to Plymouth and will probably not be making another booking here.

Had a room in the courtyard (family room ) which did not in any way match the images on hotels.com app. Very damp smelling and visible mould. Charlie and Fin went out of their way to move us for one night to another room , but we had to move back to the family room the following night as hotel full. Very disappointed that images for family room in no way match
The staff tried their best and put a dehumidifier in the room but images need to match what you think you are paying for ……

Veiws of Torbay are utterly outstanding and the hotel is designed to make the most of the veiws. Staff are wonderfully professional, smart and helpful. Car parking is available ..."
