"Great location but sub standard service and the rooms are small and loud. Stayed here for one night and got billed twice (not sure if Hotels issue or with them). As I was checking out early they’d offered a breakfast bag which I said yes to, but when I showed up the next morning the person in reception had no idea and couldn’t find any. Stayed in a Standard room which was small and every sound from the room next door could be heard through the walls. Not planning to stay here again"

"I ett bortglömt hörn av Tokaj ligger en sliten by med ett härligt litet hotell. Passade oss som hojåkare perfekt. Kunde parkera tryggt, bra mat, ännu bättre viner och väldigt trevliga värdar. Stannade en extra natt för att undvika regnväder och det gjorde oss ingenting då det finns härliga hojvägar i närområdet."

"We had a wonderful family holiday here. We are so glad we booked this place instead of the one on the nearby city Miskolc. The pool and jacuzzi was so much fun for our kids and the food was remarkable. The steak and chips was so delicious! The Gypsy pork chops are making me want to drive back for another holiday! I highly recommend this place if one is looking for a local Hungarian experience with an incredibly supportive and loving hotel team! We will definitely be back next year! "

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Tolcsva?
The best area to stay in Tolcsva is within the village itself, particularly around Rákóczi Street, where many of the historic wineries and guest houses are located.

This area forms the heart of Tolcsva, a small, quiet village located in the Tokaj wine region. It's characterised by its traditional Hungarian architecture, charming vineyards, and historic cellars. The main street, Rákóczi Street, features many of the village's popular wine estates and is easy to navigate on foot.

Couples looking for a romantic escape will find Tolcsva ideal. The village offers a tranquil setting superb for enjoying wine tastings, leisurely walks through the vineyards, and savouring local cuisine.
When is the best time to go to Tolcsva?
The best time to visit Tolcsva is during the late spring (May to early June) or early autumn (September to early October) to experience pleasant weather and the region's natural beauty.

Late spring offers mild temperatures, ideal for exploring the vineyards and historic sites without the intense heat of summer. The countryside is lush and green, and you'll find the vineyards beginning to bud, creating a picturesque setting. It's a lovely time for leisurely walks and outdoor activities.

Early autumn is great for those interested in the winemaking process and harvest season. The weather remains comfortable, and you'll have the chance to see the grape harvest in full swing, often with local festivals and wine-tasting events. The changing colours of the leaves on the vines also add to the scenic appeal.

For couples looking for a romantic and tranquil getaway, both these periods are excellent. You can enjoy quiet strolls through the vineyards, intimate wine-tasting experiences, and the peaceful atmosphere of the village.
