It's easy to see how he got his name, as this UNESCO site is still intact and well preserved 900 years later. King David is buried here as well, and you can see his tombstone under one of the arches. Reportedly he wanted the monastic students to walk over his grave on their way to study every day to remind them of...who knows what?
