#### Explore this flamboyant structure near Lotus Pond and admire its vast collection of colourful dragons and characters from Chinese mythology.

The 17th-century Tianfu Palace is one of the many attractions based around magnificent Lotus Pond. It is one of the most popular sites for pilgrimages in the Zuoying region. See the various images from ancient Chinese mythology that decorate the structure. Dragons, warriors and other eccentric beings hang from the corners of the building.

Admire the site’s majestic façade with its traditional Chinese figures and markings. See its elegant long white balcony and red tiers. Note the imposing pillars at the top of the small set of steps in front of the palace. On either side of the pillars are statues of lions. The palace’s orange roof is covered in remarkable decorations in a range of bright colours. Pick out your favourite character from the array of intriguing models.

Enter the palace through one of its three black doors. In its interior you can learn about the history of the palace through its relics and works of art. Climb upstairs and peer out through the windows for a view of the scenic Lotus Pond.

Rent bicycles from Kaohsiung City Public Bike stands and cycle along the paths on the shores of the vast lake in the heart of the city. Discover fascinating temples, such as the Dragon Tiger Tower and the Spring and Autumn Pavilions, that are dotted around the lake. Trek through the damp marshes of Chouchai Wetland Park.

The palace’s name translates to English as “wealth and riches.” After being founded in 1660, it has been renovated several times, keeping it in pristine condition in modern times.

Tianfu Palace is about a half-mile (700 metres) north of the Dragon Tiger Tower on the western shore of Lotus Pond. You will find plenty of bus stops as well as the Xinzuoying Railway Station just to the east. Ride the metro to Zuoying Station and walk west for 20 minutes to reach the palace.
