"If you are looking for a quiet place in Hikkaduwa with the loveliest staff, Roman Beach is your place. Only 6 guest rooms and off the main road, this place was a delight. Great breakfasts and a wonderful pool. "

We had an amazing stay at hotel Dormero. The hotels right in front of the beach which made it very convenient for us to go around swimming and other beach activities which were nearby. The room itself was kept spotless with daily housekeeping. The staff were very nice and polite. We even had the opportunity to celebrate new years with the staff and eat amazing food. Thank you for a lovely stay. Would recommend.

Suite Lanka is such a lovely place. We stayed for 11 days so longer than most and throughout our stay the staff didn’t put a foot wrong. This is what makes this place special. If you want an ultra modern bland hotel then this is definitely Not your place. Our rooms ( pool suite and adjoining room) were comfortable and spacious, with good air con and beautiful bathrooms. Beds were really good quality and comfortable. The pool is not massive but god enough for a cool off and immaculately...

What a find! This place is a newly opened small boutique guest house built in Colonial style that has everything you could wish for during your stay in Hikkaduwa. Peter, the owner, is a man many years in the hospitality trade who is incredibly welcoming and hospitable, going out of his way to ensure his guests are happy and comfortable at all times. The rooms are minimally furnished, but have everything you want and there is also access to a common lounge/dining area for further relaxation...

The hotel is nestled in the jungle along a dirt path. Our room had a balcony, with chairs, looking over the jungle and the lake, incredibly tranquil and beautiful. It was perfect even in the rain. We were treated superbly by the staff who wrote happy birthday mum in palm leaves on the bed and produced a cake with a firework fountain on top. All the Tuk tuk drivers new exactly where to take us and it was less than 10 minutes drive from the station - negotiate the price. The owner told us how much...

We have just returned from a two week stay at this little paradise and can honestly say we loved every second. The villa has everything that you could need, it is safe, well designed, comfortable and clean with a gorgeous outside area that backs directly onto an unspoilt quiet part of the beach. WiFi and air conditioning are excellent. The team that work at the villa are exceptional. Kind, genuine and welcoming, they make Taru Villa 906 what it is. Anthony, Withana and Wasana took the greatest...

Located just off the main street, about a 5 minute walk. Rooms are nice and clean, albeit a bit small. Very good service, Villa staff will go out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant stay. Would recommend.

A nice hidden spot near the railway station with fleeting views of the beach, friendly staff and access to the gym next door. It’s a reasonable walk to Turtle Bay, but the main restaurants/bars are approximately 15 min walk away. BUT, a Tuktuk is like £1 (GBP) so very reasonable. A great stay overall.

Clean hotel, breakfast was ok not a lot of choice other than local food, no laundry service but options available outside in Hikkaduwa.
Pool area is compact.

I loved it to stay there! Would have liked to stay longer. I came alone and just wanted to take a rest and calm down at the beach during my whole trip. Just after I arrived in the lobby I got an icetea without asking. Unfortunately I just spent there 2 nights. Everyone was so friendly. I totally recommend the hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Coral Sands. Whilst we have stayed in more luxurious hotels we found that all the staff from the pool men, to bar staff, to the room cleaners, to the senior management went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Constantly trying to please without over pestering, it was thoroughly enjoyable. We chose Hikkaduwa, because we hoped the sea would be calmer in this area and more suitable for swimming than other beaches and on our experience this...

Reception at the hotel was friendly and efficient - the minor inconvenience of some on-going building work was countered by the offer an up-graded room.

Excellent new hotel with good facilities and attentive staff. Good option if you don't mind being right on the beach. Only small drawback is the pool area only has space for 4 sun-loungers.

What should I expect on my historical trip to Thiranagama?
A visit to the historical places in Thiranagama is probably number one on your sightseeing list. And while you are here in the area, why not also discover all there is to see and do?

Thiranagama is home to 221 hotels and other lodging options bookable on Expedia but not many designated as historic hotels.
What are the must-see historical places and other sights to visit in Thiranagama?
Thiranagama is notable for landmarks like Jananandharamaya. The picturesque setting of Narigama Beach and Hikkaduwa Beach exemplify the area's natural beauty. You'll also find Hikkaduwa Coral Reef and Galle Fort in the area.
What is a historic hotel like in Thiranagama?
By choosing a historic hotel, you can sleep in a building that has a national historic designation. A castle, stately home, palace or even a pub, lodge, old police station or skyscraper can be considered a historic hotel as long as it has special significance. Traditional architecture and period features are often found within the guestrooms or public spaces of these historic hotels in Thiranagama, bringing the history to life.
What is the difference between a historic hotel and a heritage hotel?
The two are similar. "Historic hotel" is more commonly used in the U.S., while "heritage hotel" is often used in Asia and Europe. Historic hotels tend to focus on the physical building and architecture. A heritage hotel draws meaning mainly from the place's cultural value and how it inspired the surrounding community.
Do historic hotels in Thiranagama have modern facilities?
Yes, efforts are made to preserve treasured traditions and historic facades, but interiors include modern conveniences and safety features.
