That’s ten times more space than was in the old museum on the hill of the Acropolis.

5. Temple of Poseidon

The Temple of Poseidon is set on a rocky hilltop overlooking the Aegean Sea, on the picturesque Saronic Gulf. Gazing at the glittering sea and the 15 remaining Doric columns, it’s easy to see why this is one of the best-loved archeological sites in Greece. One of the columns is inscribed with the autograph of the English poet Lord Byron, adding to the romantic aura.

6. Temple of Olympian Zeus

The Temple of Olympian Zeus, also known as the Olympeion or Columns of the Olympian Zeus, is an impressive ruined temple in central Athens. It’s located less than half a mile (700 meters) to the south of Syntagma Square. Stand in awe of the towering columns that still remain from this temple which was built in ancient times to pay homage to the father of all the Olympian gods.
