The Iguazu Falls are the largest waterfalls system on the globe, attracting visitors from all around the world who wish to marvel at the crashing waters and perpetual mist that canopies the lush sub-tropical landscape here. With everything you could need to set yourself up for a day or two of adventure, Puerto Iguazu is home to a number of excellent museums containing local wood carvings. It is also close to the locally renowned Wanda Mines.
Wanda Mines — The Wanda Mines are an extensive set of semi-precious gemstone mines. Take a tour to learn how stones such as amethyst, topaz, agate, jasper and various kinds of quartz are mined, polished and then used in decorative items, including locally crafted jewellery. Who knows, you might even decide to pick up a souvenir!
Things to See in Iguazu
There’s no way to escape it – the Iguazu Falls are the main attraction in this beautiful region of Argentina. While you will find lush green walkways and paths around the top of the falls, the more adventurous out there may prefer an Iguazu day tour with a boat ride under the falls. Make sure you bring your waterproof though and perhaps some earplugs – the 275 separate waterfalls that make up Iguazu will crash around your boat with a thrilling roar – but it’s certainly worth getting wet for!
