Band forms a semi circle on the lawn in front of the Castle in twilight. BAND AT ACHNAGAIRN CASTLE - The band were delighted to be asked to perform at the International Social Travel Summit Gala Dinner tonight at the beautiful Achnagairn Castle near inverness. The summit was attended by over 120 delegates from a considerable number of countries, and we were more than happy to entertain them outside this historic and beautiful building. Our slot was between the delegates arrival and their going into dinner. Pipe Major Steve Spencer was playing out on the front lawn in the gloaming - and the guests lapped up the "solo piper" performance - only for them to whoop with delight when the surprise appeared, the full Band marching out from the side of the Castle to join the Pipie on the lawn. Despite work and health issues at short notice, which saw the number of pipers diminished somewhat, we were still able to field ELEVEN pipers, SEVEN snare drummer, a bass and a Drum Major (20 in total). The delegates were obviously enjoying the performance when, all too soon, it was time for the Band to conclude and march off, so the guests could go to dine. Despite the failing light, hopefully my photographs will give a hint of the occasion - being an international event, VisitScotland anticipate many far better photos than mine all over the internet before long!
