After a beautiful drive through the mountains, we arrived at our Refuge at Laurel. It is perfectly located between Charlottesville & Lynchburg making our visit to historic sites in Virginia easy. Then we got to return to the PEACE & QUIET found at The Refuge. Well stocked with everything one needs inside, there's the beautiful grounds that surround it. It was nice to have the huge fenced in yard so he could sunbathe and I didn’t have to worry about him. The property was much closer to the main road than I thought it would be but when you’re in the back, you can’t even tell. The only negatives were ants in the kitchen (understandable since you’re in the woods) and I wished the living room and bedroom had overhead lights instead of only floor/table lamps. It also would have been great if firewood were included, as it has been when I’ve stayed elsewhere, but I just brought my own so it wasn’t a big deal. Location was nice and central- ate at Dr Hos and went to Virginia Distillery and had a fantastic time. Oh and the bed was incredible! It was perfect for us. The location is quiet and peaceful. We had a few late afternoon showers and it was fun sitting on the front porch and enjoying the summer run.
