His brother James also resided here, in the house where I live with my husband and our three children. James and his family emigrated in the late 1840s to the United States, settling in Greenville Ohio. The Cottage accommodates four guests, having two bedrooms, the Parlour Bedroom and the Loft Bedroom, and one bathroom, as well as a small but functional kitchen and the living/dining room we call "The Aula" . We are in the process of restoring the old stone walls and developing our garden. The house has many examples of art, mostly by local artists, photographers and crafts people who are our friends, which guests can enjoy, and the interior design of the cottage is of an exceptional high standard. I live right next door with my husband and three boys - and our two pet dogs who can do a little barking when they want food (and lots of tail wagging!), but they are friendly and welcoming. We have our own rural country well, so we advise guests to be please be sparing with water use as the cottage is traditionally designed with a small tank, in respect to it's heritage. If there is heavy rain or drought, the water can get discoloured for which we apologise. Old houses can be very hard to dust to an exceptional high standard, as some of the walls inside are natural stone. The also attract the odd harmless spider, which we consider part of nature, living in the rural countryside. My blog is also available on line if you search 'Greenville' and 'blog' in Co. Tipperary. ## Property amenities ### Internet - Available in the cottage: Free WiFi ### Parking and transport - Car required - Parking on site ### Kitchen - Coffee/tea maker - Cookware, dishware, and utensils - Electric kettle - Hob - Oven - Paper towels - Refrigerator - Spices - Toaster ### Dining - Dining table ### Bedrooms - 2 bedrooms - Bedsheets provided ### Bathroom - 1 bathroom - Bathtub or shower - Hair dryer - Soap - Toilet paper - Towels provided ### Living spaces - Dining table - Living room ### Entertainment - Books - TV ### Outdoor areas - Barbecue grill - Garden - Outdoor furniture - Patio ### Laundry - Laundry facilities - Washing machine ### Comfort - Heating ### Pets - No pets allowed ### Suitability/Accessibility - If you have requests for specific accessibility needs, please contact the property using the information on the reservation confirmation received after booking. - No lift - Well-lit path to entrance - Smoke-free property ### Services and conveniences - Iron/ironing board ### Location highlights - In a rural location - In the mountains ### Things to do - Golfing nearby - Hiking/biking trails nearby ### Safety features - Carbon monoxide detector (host has indicated there is a carbon monoxide detector on the property) - Smoke detector (host has indicated there is a smoke detector on the property) - Fire extinguisher ### General - Garden - Property does not allow children ## Similar properties ![House | 3 bedrooms](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/97000000/96410000/96403400/96403327/9f242ec8.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### 3 bed Seaview Cottage Dawros - Parking included - Free Wi-Fi [](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-02-22&endDate=2026-02-23&selected=96403327&PinnedHotelID=96403327&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Cottage | Exterior](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/45000000/44820000/44818000/44817957/c0288e0c.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### Ryan's Loft Ardfinnan - Kitchen - Pet-friendly - Parking included - Free Wi-Fi 10 Exceptional 4 reviews £154 includes taxes & fees 24 Feb - 25 Feb [](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-02-24&endDate=2026-02-25&selected=44817957&PinnedHotelID=44817957&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Property grounds](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/45000000/44820000/44818100/44818018/2d682faa.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### Mrs Delaney's Loft Ardfinnan - Kitchen - Pet-friendly - Parking included - Free Wi-Fi 9.0 Wonderful 6 reviews [](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-02-22&endDate=2026-02-23&selected=44818018&PinnedHotelID=44818018&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Cottage | Interior](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/45000000/44820000/44817900/44817816/ce7de0de.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### Dirreen House Athea - Kitchen - Washing machine - Free Wi-Fi - Outdoor space 10 Exceptional 1 review £616 includes taxes & fees 11 Feb - 12 Feb [](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-02-11&endDate=2026-02-12&selected=44817816&PinnedHotelID=44817816&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Exterior](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/22000000/21470000/21462900/21462845/e06e3850.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### Ach na Sheen Guest House Tipperary - Parking included - Free Wi-Fi - Tennis court - Breakfast available 9.2 Wonderful 198 reviews £90 includes taxes & fees 20 Feb - 21 Feb [](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-02-20&endDate=2026-02-21&selected=21462845&PinnedHotelID=21462845&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) [Compare similar properties](/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-02-22&endDate=2026-02-23&selected=33647260&PinnedHotelID=33647260&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2&comparePropertyIds=33647260,96403327,44817957,44818018,44817816) ## Policies ### Check-in Check-in time starts at 4:00 PM Minimum check-in age - 18 ### Check-out Check-out before 11:00 AM ### Special check-in instructions You will receive an email from the host with check-in and check-out instructions Information provided by the property may be translated using automated translation tools ### Check-out instructions The host requires you to complete the following before checking out: Strip any used beds Remove personal items and take out the rubbish Turn off the lights Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host. ### Rules Children and pets not allowed without prior consent ### Pets Pets not allowed ### Children and extra beds This property does not allow children ### Events No events allowed ### Smoking Smoking is not permitted ## Important information ### You need to know This property is managed by a private host (a party not acting within their trade, business or profession). It’s the perfect home base for day trips across the country. we were able to explore so much without ever feeling rushed. The location is peaceful, central, and full of character. One of the best parts was coming back to the cottage and being greeted by the dogs across the gate! Denise and her husband were wonderful hosts, incredibly kind, thoughtful, and a joy to chat with. We had some great conversations and learned so much from both of them.If you’re looking for something more memorable than a standard hotel stay, this is it. Unique, charming, and full of history, we’d absolutely recommend it! ##### Kiran L. We chose this cottage in the country to experience the local towns, people, the food, & history. We rented a car & used the cottage as base. Each day we drove to a different castle or locale.Even the Cliffs of Moher was a day trip. Roscrea village was close for groceries. Denise & Joe were very friendly, helpful, kind, & wonderful hosts. Loved all the decor, books, location & Denise’s Irish soda bread was YUMMY! Highly recommend. Debbi & Perry ##### Perry W. Her home baked Irish breads are fantastic. We were there ten days and she baked bread for us on three separate days as gifts. Absolutely delicious. We won't hesitate in staying at her beautiful self contained property again. Any future stays in Tipperary, she will be our first port of call. Thanks Denise, you are amazing. ##### Hazel R. The cottage is situated in a quiet, very green location, the only thing you'll hear are Irish rain, and occasionally cows or when the lovely canine co-hosts Mandjar and Venice demand your attention. At the same time it's also close enough to make it a base for interesting day trips, we went to Kilkenny, Cashel, the cliffs and Limerick. The next shopping opportunity is in Templemore, approximately 10 mins by car. Also, Denise is an absolute treasure, she brought us home-made bread and artisan cheese and messaged us regularly to make sure everything was alright. The cottage itself is also very interesting, I never stayed in a house like this and it was quite fun to figure out the little quirks that come with it, for example how to properly shut the capricious doors. The beds are very good, there are tons of info material about the tourist attractions nearby and Denise also has a lot of tips. Long review short: We loved the stay and I'd recommend Greenville to everyone who wants to stay in a unique place that's also way quieter and has more soul than a hotel in a big city. ##### Tabea F. We were three older adults looking for a quiet place to stay while visiting the mid west. It is a very central location with connections to the motorway going both east and west. We felt welcomed, secure, and a quiet place to just relax in the evenings. The cottage has a lot of old age charm, artistic touches and a very warm welcome by our hostess. Very cllean, no mod cons, but who needs those? It’s a holiday venue for relaxation. ##### hazel h. The only drawback was the cold weather and lack of adequate heating. Both doors had multiple gaps. the indoor temp. about the same as outside. Very recommendable in warmer weather. ##### Andrea G. All facilities adequate. The charm of the cottage lies in its eccentric mix of modern art and shabby chic decor. There are family mementoes, books, bric a brac etc everywhere! The owners live next door and are very caring and helpful. ##### Hilary O. It is filled with eclectic art, and is situated down a small lane in a natural setting among hedges and fields. The Irish soda bread is first rate - yum! This is a nice spot to just relax away from town life, but it is also only about 10 minutes drive from Templemore where you can get meals and do grocery shopping. We used it as a home base to explore much of Co. Tipperary as well as Laois, Kildare, and part of Limerick. Good value! ##### Eileen B. It is lovely and quiet and it was nice to sit outside and hear nothing. Complete silence, could not even hear any cars. Great location for getting about too, close enough to the motorways. Cottage could be a bit chilly as the weather wasn't the best but I guess that's getting used to a different style of living. Only comment was it could have been cleaner. Although the spiders are a part of the furniture it was a little dusty, but that's a minor blemish. We'll worth he cost of staying. ##### martin d. ##### Sabrina V. The main bedroom is spacious with a very comfortable bed. The sitting room is comfortable with a cozy fireplace, generous sofas and a dining area. It's old cottage styled living with enough conveniences of the modern day such as wifi, fridge freezer, cooker and generous sized bathroom.
