After a 25 hour flight, my first impression of the hotel was 'oh-oh, what have I gotten myself into?' I had to take two elevators to get to my room. The non-smoking room I had asked for had an ashtray in it (but to its credit, did not smell like cigarettes). The bed was low on the floor, the room was tiny. The shower had no place to put soap, razor, shampoo. The hotel itself is not well marked, and kind of tucked behind some buildings. No big "Best Western" sign. Taxis really struggle to find it.
BUT - I have to say that, by the end of my first day, my impression had completely changed. The staff - front desk and restaurant - were fantastic - all of them. Friendly, helpful, responsive, proactive, caring. It was genuinely a delight, and the physical aspects of the hotel became far less of a factor. I realized that, while it is not a five-star hotel, it is clean, safe and bright. Not 100%... comfortable, but functional, clean and friendly. If you like the five star experience, it probably isn't for you. But if you like great people, great value and a personal experience, I'd recommend it in a heartbeat!
