Location: Terracos de Tavira, overlooking the old center of Tavira. Construction: approx 85.m2 and approx. 12m2 patio. Built 2008. Description: Situated on a hilltop by the River Gilão in Tavira and part of an ultra modern development, this apartment offers the perfect holiday retreat. The community of exclusive apartments and townhouses surround the manicured gardens and pool areas, including a children's pool and play area, decking lawned areas with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas. Watch the sun set over Tavira and at nightfall the gardens and pool glow in the soft illumination of the garden lights. For evenings out simple take the steps down the side of the hill to the river where traditional restaurants and bars decorate the banks and families take a stroll after dinner. The beach of Tavira is on the Island and boats to take you across the lagoon to the 'Isla' cruise the River Gilão through out the year. Tavira Island is totally unspoilt, has excellent restaurants and long stretches of sandy beaches. For the more adventures you can hire a bike in Tavira and a short cycle along the river takes you to "Pego do Inferno" (Hell Hole! So named, as allegedly there is no bottom to the plunge pool) and despite its name, is a gorgeous waterfall and lagoon where you can swim. Impeccably furnished and well equipped there is a private entrance via the front garden with video entry system. Entrance hall with storage for outdoor furniture. Kitchen is fully fitted with integral appliances, large fridge freezer, washing machine and dryer, microwave, and convection oven, hob and dishwasher. During the summer there is a diary of free events in and around the city from book fairs and antique markets to music and films shown in the open air. In the winter there is classical music in the churches where the doors are open for visitors and residents alike. Christmas sees the city festooned in twinkling lights and New Year is enjoyed with a firework display over the river. Tavira has a temperate climate so sitting with a "galão" (milky coffee) in the sunshine can be enjoyed any time of the year. The pool area is excellent. Very quiet and well maintained outdoor spaces. The Happy Homes people were great to work with. Yes, there are stairs to get to town but you can also drive for 5 minutes and be in the main squares. Lots of parking! We discussed this with the Property Management Company who was very receptive toward us. During our stay, there were a couple of issues requiring immediate action, and they were dealt with to our satisfaction in a very timely manner. The apartment is well equipped with dishes, pots/pans, cutlery but it does not have any consumables. This was unlike other VRBOs we have rented. We enjoy walking but it should be noted there is a staircase with many (129) steps to get to and from town. The neighbourhood was quiet and felt safe. The unit was comfortable and met our space needs. We enjoyed the interior, open-air space and the exterior patio. The green space and pool added to our enjoyment. We are fortunate to be fit enough in our late-60s to negotiate the stairs that must be traversed to walk to town, but others might find it a challenge. We enjoyed our stay in this ideal area of Tavira. We walked to town almost every day. All that you need is in walking distance, to us anyway, because we love to walk. The accommodation was clean and as it appeared in the website. We did have to buy toilet paper, garbage bags, paper towels and soap for the clothes which we usually had in other VRBO accommodations. Well appointed apartment but it needed some maintenance. The furniture was tired and worn. The grounds/pool were lovely. The walkways need work. Many loose tiles and trip hazards. Travelling with my tenge sons, it was situated 10 minutes walk from the centre of Tavira on the top of a small hill. The walk into town was fine and it was very nice to be at this vantage point. The property was fabulous and felt very luxurious. It was spacious and light and had everything we needed for a week. The grounds and pool were well maintained and calm and quiet at Easter. Tavira and surrounding areas were lovely - I had wanted to visit for the last couple of years and it did not disappoint. For a lovely Portuguese town with access to beautiful beaches and countryside, I would totally recommend this area and property. ##### Emma K. It was clean, the furniture was modern and in good shape, the beds were comfortable. Internet reception was excellent. The kitchen was well equipped except it could use a larger frying pan. The one they currently have is tiny. There were some burned out light bulbs in the bathrooms and the entryway and the freezer door wouldn't close properly. We notified the property managers and I'm sure they'll take care of it before the next guests arrive. We'd definitely stay here again. ##### Gabrielle S. We were met by the rep who let us in & gave us the keys. The apartment was filled with light & was sociable. We thought the outside arears (patio at the front, courtyard in the middle & narrow balcony at the back) were small but perhaps that is because we had come from somewhere else with more outside space. There was a beach umbrella & cool box etc which were available for our use. This was great on the day that we took the ferry to the island. We all liked the town of Tavira & really liked the proximity of the apartment to the town. There are 120 steps down & within about 20 minutes you can be in the town with its shops & restaurants. It's situated just north of the railway bridge in Tavira up a hill to the left. The apartment is clean, very spacious and in a great location. It is also well equipped with everything that you would require in terms of kitchen equipment. Main bedroom is en-suite which isn't apparent from the photos, and the main bathroom is large and spacious. The complex itself, is very quiet and relaxing with the pool area a great place to chill out. It's only a short walk into town down, down a set of steps which runs between the villas that surround the complex ( just a slight warning - if you're elderly, or not fully mobile, it's a steep climb back up !!! ) Check in procedure was straightforward and easy - we were met on site by the rep who showed us round and explained everything to us - there is also a comprehensive information file left to peruse. The patio area is a little on the small side if you're eating and drinking, but this really is a minor quibble, when compared to the rest of the apartment, which, as I say, is excellent. Tavira itself, is a lovely, traditional fishing village, with a great choice of bars and restaurants. Particular favourites of ours were Artefact, D'Gusto, and Tavira Lounge. If you fancy, some Pizza or Pasta, the n Pizzaria di Romma is great ( and ridiculously cheap !! ) All in all, a great place for a holiday, and i would have no hesitation in recommending.
