We purposely booked a European brand hotel to enjoy the services and on the website it shows a bar menu as well as spa services. During my stay the WiFi did not work anywhere in the hotel except the lobby and the staff repeatedly made up different stories about the reason why or when it would be fixed. Carpets worn and stained, walls scuffed, tiles chipped, bathrooms mildewy, drapes faded and the entire hotel smelled of stale cigarette smoke. To add insult to injury, they charged an outrageous rate for a 1km ride to the ferry terminal -- more than 5x what a taxi would have cost. Let me just say- at that point this place was luxurious. The restaurant is good and the buffet breakfast is very nice. The neighborhood is pretty standard for Indonesia but the staff could be more helpful. Most of the staff behind the front desk would evade our questions. It could possibly have been the language barrier or just not knowing the answer but they would just walk away and not return. It was . . . weird.
