This hotel has amazing potential and was probably once quite grand. The facilites are tired and in need of maintenance and updates. We were there out of season so it was very quiet and the staff seemed a little challenged in knowing what to do. The beach is great and the grounds are super. I would stay here again but I’d check my room and test the shower before settling on my room.

"The private pool is not something I have come across before and it turned out to be a pretty special feature. The only minor letdown was the room itself. It was very dark almost dungeon like and why they put a bed that you need a ladder to get into is just beyond me. I even feel its unsafe especially ..."

"Lovely, helpful staff and a great location, right by the water where you look down on everyday life, dhows, donkeys and all. Quiet garden with pool and sunloungers. Excellent rooftop restaurant. 30 minute walk to Lamu or short boatride. Large, traditional rooms so don't expect TVs."
