Tallinn

Whether you stay for a few days or a week, Tallinn is one of those places that you will remember forever.

The population of this area of Estonia is nearly 390,000.

Exploring Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and St Mary's Cathedral is one of the best ways to get started in this famous destination.

Ensure everyone has a great time by visiting some of the child-friendly attractions of the area. Head on over to the Kalamaja Children’s Museum Miiamilla and the Children's Museum Miiamilla. Skypark is also heaps of fun.

Take snapshots, enjoy the presentations and find out about animal biodiversity at the Tallinn Zoo. If you're pressed for time, stop by the information counter and collect a map so you don't miss out on any of the park favorites.

Do you enjoy a drink or two? If so, be sure to visit the Saku Brewhouse, a very educational place to spend the afternoon. Discover the different brewing methods for each beer, and afterwards, be sure to put all your new knowledge to good use by sampling the final product!

Get set for some high-speed thrills at the Laitse Rally Park, the area's go-to racetrack for motoring enthusiasts.

Amid a diverse collection of plants and flowers, an afternoon at the Tallinn Botanic Garden is guaranteed to be a pleasant one.

Pack some lunch and take some time out in the lush surroundings of Hirvepark and the Kadrioru Park. There's also plenty of space to lay about on the grass at Toompark and the Danish King's Garden.

Once you arrive, you can get information on local culture and happenings from Tallinn Tourist Information Centre and Tallinn Traveller Info.

You might need to bring along a rain jacket if you don't want to get wet at Keila Waterfall. More cascading water and untouched vistas await at Treppoja Cascade and Pakri Waterfall.

Enjoy the fresh air, take a walk along the water's edge and listen to the seabirds squawking overhead at Laulasmaa Beach.

Switch off your phone and have a rest from the noise of the modern world at Tonismagi and Turisalu Cliff. Nature enthusiasts will also have a terrific time at Uksnurme-Metsanurme Nature and Hiking Trail and Nature Study Trail in Paaskula Bog.

Grab a buddy or two and explore some of the popular cultural institutions nearby. The Museum of Occupation and the Dominican Monastery Museum offer a range of displays and collections that are sure to capture your attention. You might also want to consider a visit to the Kurtna Motorcycle Museum and the Horsemill.

Climb aboard for a journey through the region's seafaring history at the Mine Museum. Salt-encrusted adventures don't need to end here. More inspiring tales and remains of old watercraft await at the Estonian Maritime Museum and the Lennusadam Seaplane Harbour.

Take the little ones to study many scientific artifacts, models and displays at the Energy Discovery Centre, the most popular science-centered museum around.

Plucked straight from the natural world, the alluring specimens at the St John's Alms-house and the Estonian Museum of Natural History have plenty of surprises up their sleeves.

Tallinn is a frenzy of artistic activity, with galleries seemingly tucked around every corner. Immerse yourself in the creative atmosphere at the Kumu Art Museum and the Amandus Adamson's Studio Museum. The Niguliste Museum and the Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia are also well worth a browse if you can fit them in.

The past comes alive at the Tallinn City Museum and the Great Guild Hall thanks to their range of thoughtful displays. Do you like the sound of those? You'll be able to learn even more at the Harju County Museum or the Nomme Museum.

To learn about the area's colorful past, pay a visit to its historic sites. Start your history lesson at Kiek in de Kok and Bastion Passages Museum and Estonian Open Air Museum. When it comes to days of old, there's always more to discover. Pikk Hermann and House of the Brotherhood of Black Heads are also great places to stop by.

Kadriorg Palace is a giant time capsule, featuring some of the best design and craftsmanship in the region.

Take a step back into the past and snatch a glimpse of how rulers lived long ago in a historic castle from the Middle Ages. Toompea Castle and Laitse Castle may appear to come from a children's fairy tale, however, these sites truly were once protectors for the people of this area.

Whether you're a spiritual person or not, you'll be sure to have a pleasant time at St. Nicholas' Church and St. Olav's Church. Dominican Monastery and St. Charles' Church are two more recommended holy sites.

Tallinn's most prominent tourist sights often overshadow its less visited, but equally fascinating attractions. Two good places to start with are the National Library of Estonia and St. Catherine's Passage. If you have more time to spare, also check out Lohusalu Marina and Nomme Seikluspark.
