Location-Right next to the main town square In the centre of the old Tallinn - so very easy to walk to all parts of old town, city walls, museums, churches etc. Nothing was more than 10 minutes walk away, but some streets steep, and uneven cobbles- so bring the right shoes! There’s no lift- so quite a few stairs if your on the top/ third floor. The areas UNESCO status means they have had to preserve old walls- so the rooms are all different shapes. Ours wasn’t particularly big. Despite High ceilings, an opening window and/ or air conditioning I still found it too warm at night. The central location means bars and restaurants are in your doorstep- but they are the ones that trade on the tourist market. Pay for the medieval ambience, or alk 5-10 mins out of the centre to see your food bills drop by 30%. Was area was very busy in the daytime, and quite noisy in the evenings.
So- if you want convenience to all the sights, it’s great: character, a bit quirky, plenty of history and lovely staff. But if you want to avoid the crowded streets, and don’t mind a bland hotel room, then stay in the new town areas. I’d stay again( but my other half prefers a quieter area).
