Occupying a sheltered bay on the south-west coast of Mahe, the main island of Seychelles, Takamaka Beach offers a retreat from the stresses of everyday life. Use Expedia to explore a range of hotels near Takamaka, from simple suites with ocean-view balconies to full-on luxury in a five-star spa resort.
Any of the hotels in the south of Mahé will put you within easy reach of Takamaka Beach. For the closest accommodation to Takamaka Beach look in the tiny town of Quatre Bornes – just five minutes away by car – or to the west along the South Coast Road.
Takamaka Beach takes its name from the distinctive evergreen trees that line the sands. These trees and the majestic palms provide plenty of shade, so you can dip in and out of the hot Seychelles sun and enjoy the picturesque setting. Apart from a few apartments, villas, restaurants and shops nestled in behind the trees, you’ll find Takamaka Beach fantastically free from distractions.
If you’re looking to go snorkelling while you’re in the Seychelles, a hotel near Takamaka Beach is the perfect choice. Marine life thrives here, and the shallow waters mean you can set off straight from the beach. It’s best to bring your own equipment with you or pick some up from your hotel, as there are no shops or rental services at Takamaka Beach.
It’s easy to get around Mahé by car, bus or taxi, and there are several other local beaches you can explore from your Takamaka Beach hotel. Head north to reach Baie Lazare, a long, curved beach thought to be where explorer Lazare Picault landed when he claimed the island for France in 1742. Just south of Takamaka Beach is Anse Intendance, a popular surfing bay that offers huge waves at certain times of the year. And outside of peak surfing season, it’s still a beautiful place to enjoy a lazy day and a romantic Seychelles sunset.
