The grounds are wonderfully manicured with exceptional views out to the sea. There is even a haunted castle ruin on site! The service was not great. We had to call to inquire about breakfast no one let us know how this worked. We arrived to wait for about 15 minutes with the only two other guests at the hotel to have a sixteen year old boy wait on us. He didn’t know how to make coffee said he doesn’t drink it. Apparently he was left to his own devices at the house, we went into the kitchen twice looking for him to bring additional items. We were never told there was a whole other room with a continental breakfast that was part of our dining experience including juices, fruit and pastries. How do you leave a child to run an exclusive hotel is beyond me and very unprofessional. The service was incredible; very hospitable and went over and above to ensure that we were comfortable and able to enjoy our stay. David, Ally and chef Pete couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. The food and whisky tasting were fantastic. They were very knowledgeable about the area giving us lots of hints and tips about where to walk and visit.
