"My wife and I had ten days in Orchard cottage over the Christmas period visiting relatives in the Highlands. The cottage has a lovely country ambience, set near a big dam with ducks to greet you every morning. Fruit trees kept is in fresh fruit including limes for my gin and tonic, and fresh cut hydrangeas from a neighbouring cottage kept the table dressed.It is a lovely place if you are looking for a quiet escape. "We had 9 staying at Lavender Cottage and the bedding and beds were wonderful. The layout of the cottage was good, with dining room and lounge large enough for all, with comfortable seating etc. Surrounding was beautiful, and felt very countryside while still only 10-15 mins out of Mittagong. Great 4pm leaving on Sundays. On the downside, property needs considerable maintenance on appliances, heating etc, and outdoor cleaning on BBQ and furniture.
