Thank you for your lovely review and feedback. The proximity of the house to to local attractions including the Tambo River, Gippsland Lakes and the Hot Springs can mean the road gets busy at times. However, we do find that it is lovely and quiet of an evening. To assist with thermal retention and sound we have been progressively replacing windows and doors with double glazing (3 done, one more on order) and adding additional insulation to help bring it in line with modern standards.

Thank you for your lovely review. It sounds like you had an enjoyable break. The wildlife in the area really is relaxing to watch, the number of birds we see on the Tambo some days is amazing. I will add pelicans to your list as they are a favourite of mine and often seen from the front deck swimming on, or flying along the river.

Thank you for your positive review of our cottage. We did more renovations the week or so after you left. The original fire place has now been restored; one room was completely re plastered; a lot of electrical work was completed including a new ceiling fan, exhaust fan in the bathroom, extra lights and power points, and a significant amount of rewiring; as well as a new new hot water system. We have also now eaten at the Swan Reach Hotel on a few occasions. Its nice and close and we have found the the food to be good quality reasonably priced. My advice get their early and/ or book. It gets busy.

Thank you for your feedback. We completely agree about the need for an exhaust fan in the bathroom. We have given our electrician a job list and the fan is definitely on it. As soon as we can get him here we will have one.

Thank you for your lovely review. With the house still remaining a relatively new venture for us we are looking forward to our guest returning so they can see how we have continued to improve it. This week we have installed new carpet in the master bedroom, built some new garden beds and plan to install the first of our double glazed windows which we have had custom made to suit the house this coming weekend.

Firstly, our apologies. A visit from a mouse is not what you want to discover when you are away for the weekend. Unfortunately, country properties have small visitors from time to time and it appears that they found the house inviting between guests as the weather has become colder. We have done some work to eradicate the problem and hope that they stay away. Thank you for being so understanding of this in our previous communications. Since your stay, we have had some discussions around electric blankets. However, due to complexities with washing them and our wish to maintain a hygienic environment for our guests, at this stage we have decided against providing them. However, in addition to the split system, wood fire, 2 oil heaters and spare blankets already available in the house, we have purchased some additional blankets which will be placed into each bedroom for those extra cold evenings. Thank you for your well wishes with our winter bookings. We appreciate the support of the locals and as this is still a relatively new venture for us (our first winter owning the house) we look forward to continually improving our cottage to enhance the experience for our guests.

We have just placed an order for the first 2 that are double glazed and match the aesthetics of the house. The convenience of Metung road with its proximity to local attractions including the river, Gippsland Lakes and the Hot Springs (which are in the final stages of construction), can mean it is busy at times. We do find that it is lovely and quiet of an evening and hope that you experienced the same.

Although the speed of our restorations has slowed down since last year, we have a sting of jobs planned to further restore the cottage that our guests will be able to enjoy in the coming months.

It was a pleasure to host such lovely guests and to receive feedback which supports the improvements that are already at the top of our priority list. We are now in the possession of 2 screen doors that will add the needed ventilation to the bedrooms and will be installed ASAP (hopefully this coming weekend). We acknowledge that the main gate in the front fence does pose some issues with small dogs, however, it was pleasing to hear that the dogs were able to be safely secured and were happy in the back yard area.
