![Reunification Buddha at Doughwasa Temple

Donghwasa Temple is on the southern side of Mt. Palgongsan, South Korea. 

On its grounds is a 17 meter high statue of a Buddha of Medicine (Yaksayore-bil).  Medical Buddhas are often depicted wearing a hat. It was completed in 1992 in hopes of reunification of the Korean Peninsula.

Donghwasa Temple is one of the temples involved in the Temple Stay Program. "The room was very clean and had a great feel. Very techy. Staff were all friendly and spoke English very well. The pool was fun and breakfast was decent. It is in a very distant location, so unless you need to be in that area, I would consider a different hotel for a more convenient location. My friend lived nearby so it was perfect for me. "

"Hotel Laonzena was an average hotel and I would give it 3 stars. Our check-in process wasn't very welcoming - we arrived at 1.45pm, just an hour before the official check-in time of 3pm. We asked if we could check in early but the front desk lady immediately dismissed our request and told us to come back at 3pm. She didn't even take the initiative to check her computer to see if a room was available. That left us with quite the unwelcoming experience. The room was a bit dated and tired looking, and small. The double bed also wasn't that comfortable. The bathroom was good though. The swimming pool was closed throughout our stay. They gave us a single coupon for breakfast which was very strange given there were two of us. The breakfast layout was very strange - there were about 7-8 round tables with 6 chairs each. Food was mainly Korean cuisine but the coffee was good. Unlike the check-in experience, the front desk staff during our check-out were very friendly and polite. They even stored our luggage for us in a secure location after we checked out, and even called us a taxi to the train station. They told us the ride was about 7 minutes and would cost around 7,000 Won, and it was very accurate. "
